Wichita Wild News Release
The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) has decided to part ways with recent acquisition Ben Sankey. Wild General Manager John Blazek says "I want players that have a passion to be here and be a part of a team."
Former Kansas Jayhawk Greg Nicks has decided to re-join the Wild for his second season with the team. In 2010 Nicks saw most of his playing time on the offensive line, which is where Nicks will play in 2011. Nicks also played on the defensive line in 2010 recording 16.5 tackles.
Nicks played fullback at Butler County in 1998 when the Grizzlies finished with a 12-0 record and won their second NJCAA National Championship. Nicks played offensive line at Butler in 2000 when the Grizzlies finished 10-2 and #6 in the final NJCAA poll. Nicks finished his college eligibility at Kansas and was the team's long snapper during the 2000 and 2001 seasons. Nicks also played guard and center on the offensive line during his time with the Jayhawks.
Nicks spent the summer of 2004 in mini-camp and rookie camp as a center and long snapper with the Kansas City Chiefs. After being let go by the Chiefs, Nicks spent time as a teacher in Lawrence and was a police officer in Wichita for 3-and-a-half years.
The Wild will take on the West Texas Roughnecks at Hartman Arena on Friday night. The game kicks off at 7:05 pm with doors opening to the Arena at 6:00 pm.
