Wichita Wild News Release
Wichita, KS. - The Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League (IFL) dropped their fourth straight game this evening against the Allen Wranglers, final score 61-48.
Although the Wild lost by 12, the game was competitive throughout, with both teams trading off leads several times. Wichita Wild Quarterback Phil Staback was taken out of the game mid-way through the second quarter with a knee injury, putting backup Quarterback Marcus Jackson at the reins for the remainder of the game. Before leaving, Staback had thrown for 7 of 8 passes, including 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
Marques Jackson stepped up to the occasion, completing 10 of 17 passes including, 1 touchdown, and 2 interceptions. However, unfortunately, Jackson's final interception took place with 1:08 left to play as the Wild were pressuring to score on Allens's 5 yard line, ending the game for Wichita.
The biggest story of the evening however was Wichita Wide Receiver Doug Pierce who caught 6 passes for a total of 143 yards and 5 touchdowns. Unfortunately the big numbers out of Pierce tonight were not enough for the Wild to pull out a victory.
Postgame, Head Coach Morris Lolar spoke briefly about the game. "There's no doubt we still have work to do here. You have to give credit to Doug Pierce; he play solid ball out there tonight. Ultimately we'll take this one for what it is, and go back to work on Monday to prepare of New Mexico."
The Wichita Wild will return to action on March 31st when they take on the New Mexico Stars at home in Hartman Arena.
