As the Wichita Wild of the Indoor Football League prepare for the 2011 season, the franchise has decided to appoint a new General Manager to lead the organization. The team has hired John Blazek as the second General Manager in franchise history. Blazek brings a strong background in running complex organizations to the Wild. Blazek served the team in 2010 as color commentator on Wild radio broadcasts.

For the last 23 years, Blazek has helped run public schools in the Maize and El Dorado school districts. Most recently, Blazek was principal at Maize South High School for two years and principal at Maize South Middle School for 10 years prior to that. Blazek also spent five years as Associate Principal at Maize High School from 1993-1998.

From 1988 to 1993, Blazek served as Head Football Coach and was Assistant Principal at El Dorado High School. Blazek served as Athletic Director from 1990-1993.

Blazek has taught and coached at the high school and college level since 1977 with stops at Northwest Missouri State, Peru State (NE), Ralston High School (Omaha, NE), Highland Park High School (Topeka), and Ulysses High School (KS). Blazek compiled a 96-65 record in 15 seasons as Head Football Coach at Ulysses (1977-81), Highland Park (1981-83), and Ralston High (1983-85).

Blazek is a native of Creston, IA and came to Wichita to play football at Wichita State (WSU). Blazek graduated from WSU with a degree in Physical Education. Blazek continued his education at Fort Hays State and earned a Master's in Education Administration.

Blazek lives in Wichita with his wife, Joan. His son, AJ, is currently an Assistant Football Coach at Winona State (MN). AJ was a Junior College All-American lineman at Butler County Community College and All-Big 10 at Iowa. AJ played for two seasons with the Chicago Rush of the Arena Football League. John's daughter, Amber, is a teacher in Topeka.

Wild owner Wink Hartman says, "I am excited about the team's future and will continue to turn over every stone to make it to United Bowl. The Wild are part of the area sports community and will always put a quality product on and off the field." Hartman went on to add "2011 is the year we will go all the way."
