HEAD COACHES

Augusta: Bubba Diggs (2nd year, 5-9). Diggs was a member of Clemson's 1981 national championship and spent time in the USFL (Washington Federals) and NFL (San Diego Chargers. The Augusta native coached for his hometown's af2 team, the Stallions as well as the Columbus WarDogs.

Osceola: Marquette Smith (2nd year 8-7, 3rd overall, 10-16) High school and college Hall of Fame inductee, Smith was the 1991 Gatorade National Football Player of the Year. Played college ball at FSU and UCF and was a fifth round pick of the Carolina Panthers. The well-traveled Smith has played or coached in six leagues.

GAME NOTES ... This is the WIFL debut for the Ghostriders, who endured the 2006 season in the National Indoor Football League ... Osceola was 6-1 at home last season ... Five of Osceola's seven losses were decided by five points or less ... Panui led the Ghostriders with 59 catches for 825 yards and 12 touchdowns ... Augusta is looking for its second straight 2-0 start ... Spartans won just one road game in 2006 in AIFL ... Satcher threw for 243 yards and five touchdowns while rushing for two more to lead the Augusta Spartans to a 49-47 victory over the Daytona Beach Thunder on 2/11 ... Stone (8 catches for 110 yards) and Young (6-111) each caught two touchdown passes as the Spartans scored two unanswered touchdowns to turn a 32-31 deficit into a 43-32 lead. Daytona Beach closed to 49-47 with 7:21 remaining and had a chance to win, but Jaye Tyroff's field goal was blocked by Voncellis Allen ... Watkins spent two seasons with the Buffalo Bills and another with Seattle.

Columbus: Jason Gibson (1st with team, 3rd overall 12-14). An All-American receiver at Fairmont State University, Gibson went on to play in the CFL with the BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts then had a stint in Europe before coming to indoor ranks with Albany (AFL) and two af2 teams. He began his coaching career with the Greensboro Prowlers (af2) before taking the reigns of the Raleigh Rebels (AIFL) in 2005

Daytona Beach: Leon Bright (1st year, 0-1). Former high school All-American at Merritt Island High School who went to play at pre-Bobby Bowden Florida State, then a stellar CFL career with the British Columbia Lions before moving to the NFL with the New York Giants and Tampa Bay Bucs. He is the Director of the Chisholm Community Center in DeLand, and active in the area football community.

GAME NOTES: This is the inaugural game for the Lions .. Gibson coached the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers based in Columbus last season ... McKay is a former University of Georgia QB while Pollock is the all-time leading receiver at the University of North Carolina ... Lions DL Musa Nash played for Daytona Beach in the 2006 AIFL season ... Bartik set a Thunder team with 6 TD passes in the 49-47 loss to Augusta ... Broadhurst tied the team record with 5 TD catches ... Broadhurst had more TD catches in one game than he did career catches while at Troy University ... Thunder have never lost two consecutive home games, but did the 2006 AIFL season 0-3 ... Three former players, RB/LB Brad Lee, DB Javon Camon and Bailey rejoined the team this week .. Seven of the Thunder's nine losses have been by six points or less
