WIFL announces inaugural All-League Team
June 22, 2007 - World Indoor Football League 2 (WIFL 2) News Release
Seven players each from the Columbus Lions and Augusta Spartans led the way in the naming of the World Indoor Football League's inaugural all-league team, it was announced today.
Voting was conducting among the league's four coaches, league staff, and a composite fan ballot. Coaches could not vote for their own players. Twelve were consensus - receiving the maximum number of possible votes.
Instead of having a first and second team, the league decided to add an extra offensive lineman, wide receiver, defensive lineman and defensive back to the all-star list.
"Looking at this list, I am very pleased in the quality of player we had on the field this season," said WIFL commissioner Gary Tufford. "I congratulate each and every one of these players, and I hope to see them move up to the next level because all of them are capable of doing so."
Columbus' Eugene Goodman earned two spots on the all-league team as a running back and kick returner. He led the league in both categories
The Osceola Ghostriders had five all-league selections and the Daytona Beach Thunder two.
