Wichita Wings Game Preview
November 17, 2011 - Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)
Wichita Wings News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Wings of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) will play host to Eastern divisional opponent, the Baltimore Blast. This will be the Wings fourth regular season game. Kick-off is scheduled to start at 7:35pm (CT) on Saturday, November 19th at Hartman Arena.
In Baltimore's 2011-2012 home opener, the Blast fell to divisional opponent Syracuse Silver Knights 18-7 in front of 8,078 fans. The Blast failed to get past the Knight's defense all night. Coming off an MISL runner-up finish last season, the Blast look to hit the ground running in a weekend double header against two Central Division opponents. The Blast will play the Missouri Comets on Friday night before coming to Wichita on Saturday to take on the Wings.
Wichita, an expansion team re-joining the MISL this season under new ownership, enters the game with a record of 0-3. The Wings have been competitive in every game this season, but have yet to capitalize with a win. Wichita is hungry and ready to put a tally in the win column.
The Wings, lead by rookie Head Coach and former Wings standout player LeBaron Hollimon, have what it takes to make a statement in the MISL. Over the last three games, the Wings have increasingly developed continuity of play, and the team has the potential to start making some noise in the league.
Key match-ups: Blast Goalkeeper Sagu vs. Wings Mid Fielder Jamar Beasley Last year's MISL Goalkeeper of the year, team caption, and member of 3 championship teams with the Blast, Sagu is a three-time goalkeeper of the year, and six-time All-League selection. He will be trying to contain Jamar Beasley who is coming off his best performance against the Milwaukee Wave. In that game, Beasley recorded 4 points; 1 goal and 2 assists.
Keep an eye on: Kevin Ten Eyck The Wings defender scored 5 points along with 2 steals, and 3 blocks. Being in his first season as a pro, he is making strides to earn respect from not only veterans' on his team, but other teams around the MISL.
This will be the Wings second home game of the 2011-2012 season as they return to Hartman Arena on November 19th.
