June 22, 2006 (Toronto, Ontario) - The Canadian Football League and
Making the Connection have teamed up to invite football fans to decide
The Greatest Quarterback/ Receiver Connections in CFL History. This new
program allows fans across Canada to debate and vote online at
"Thinking back through the many generations of CFL football, it is easy
to remember countless great quarterback and receiver tandems," said
Wally Buono, Head Coach of the BC Lions and Making the Connection
spokesperson. "Fans across the country will be in high debate in
deciding just which connection is the greatest in Canadian Football
history." Starting June 23rd through August 18th, vignettes during CFL on TSN's
Friday Night Football will reveal the nine nominated tandems from across
the League, spanning several generations. Once all nine tandems are
unveiled, fans can vote for their favourite duo or debate with other
armchair coaches over who deserves the greatest duo honour. Select
nominated players will be visiting their CFL hometowns to talk about
their nomination with media, as well as raise awareness about the
importance of managing high cholesterol. The winning tandem will be
announced during halftime at the 94th Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Manitoba on
November 19, 2006. "Making the Connection is an important program for our fans and all
Canadians, as it raises awareness of the health risks associated with
high cholesterol," said Brent Scrimshaw, Chief Marketing Officer, CFL.
"Making the Connection and the CFL have helped thousands of Canadians
learn more about managing their cholesterol while enjoying the exciting
brand of Canadian football. This quest to choose the greatest
Quarterback/Receiver in CFL history is just another example of this
thriving partnership." Triple Threat Entertainment will be producing the vignettes with online
support from MRX Associates. Public relations activities are being
handled by Weber Shandwick Worldwide. Tandems were selected upon
consultation with League and team representatives based on overall
achievements, statistical data and significance to their team and the
era in which they played.
