Laredo, TX - The Laredo Broncos (3-3) batted around in the first two innings en route to an 12-9 win over the Harlingen WhiteWings (2-4), who hit four home runs, tonight at Veterans Field.

The Broncos jumped on Joey Cress (0-1) in the first with one out. Dwayne White doubled and Luany Sanchez followed with a two-run home run. Edgard Clemented followed with a solo-shot. Jose Salas walked, and one out later scored on an Ivan Reyes double. Arnoldo Ponce capped off the inning with an RBI-double of his own to make it 5-0.

The Broncos kept pouring it on in the second as Mark Lewis reached on an error and White walked. Sanchez followed with a three-run home run to make it 8-0.

The WhiteWings started chipping away against Santo Hernandez (1-0) in the top of the third as Candelario Perez and Bub Bergstrom walked with one out. Terry Roblez followed with his first home run to make it 8-3.

David Cardona hit a solo-home run in the fifth to make it 8-4.

With one out in the seventh, Roblez hit his second homer of the game, this one against former-WhiteWing Julian Williams. Cardona followed by being hit by a pitch and Fox walked. Both runners advanced on a Brian Nichols fly-out. Rusty Jones came in and gave up a two-run double to Kevin Griffin to make it 8-7.

With two outs in the eighth, Todd Lutz, in his third inning of work, seemed to hit a wall. Clemente walked, Salas singled and Lopez singled to load the bases. Ivan Reyes walked to force in a run, a wild pitch scored a run and Ponce hit a two-run double to make it 12-7.

Brian Nichols hit a two-run homer with two outs in the ninth to complete the scoring.

The WhiteWings get Monday off before sending left-hander Jorge Lugo (0-0) to the mound on Monday in the home opener against the Edinburg Coyotes at 7:05 p.m.
