On Thursday, July 21st, the Whitecaps Women defeated the 2003 WUSA Champions Washington DC Freedom 3-1. In addition to the action on the field, this game featured a number of fundraising elements in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
For this game only, the women wore a special jersey that featured pink ribbons embroidered on either sleeve. A selection of jerseys were auctioned off at the July 21st and 24th games raising in excess of $2,500. An additional 8 jerseys are now available for bid online at ticketmaster.ca. The two profiled jerseys are those worn by #15 Kara Lang, and #5 Andrea Neil. Both have been autographed and are available for bid until this Friday, July 29th at 4:00pm. All proceeds from this auction will benefit the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
