VANCOUVER, BC - Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Wednesday that the club has signed right back Scott Sutter for the 2019 season with an option for 2020.

"Scott brings a lot of experience from his time in Switzerland, as well as his last two seasons in Orlando," said Whitecaps FC head coach Marc Dos Santos. "Scott is a competitor and we are happy to have him join our club. He will be a great addition to our young locker room."

Sutter, 32, arrives in Vancouver following two seasons with Orlando City SC where he made 51 appearances, while contributing offensively with four goals and six assists.

Prior to arriving in North America, Sutter spent 14 seasons playing in the Swiss Super League with Grasshopper Club Zürich, BSC Young Boys, and FC Zürich. In that time, he made over 200 league appearances, and played 65 matches in the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and UEFA Cup competition. Offensively, Sutter contributed 13 goals and 31 assists in all competitions.

Sutter originally moved to Switzerland from his native England at age 16 to play with Grasshopper. The dual-citizen, whose father is Swiss, has also made two appearances for the Switzerland national team.

TRANSACTION: On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, Whitecaps FC signed right back Scott Sutter for the 2019 season with an option for 2020. Sutter holds a United States Green Card and will not occupy an international roster spot. He will officially join the club's roster pending receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and medical examinations.
