West Michigan Whitecaps News Release
COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The West Michigan Whitecaps are soliciting ideas for new food items to be served at Fifth Third Ballpark this season. Starting today, fans can submit their ideas regarding what new food items they would like to see served at Fifth Third Ballpark this summer.
This is the third year that food ideas submitted by fans will find their way onto the Fifth Third Ballpark menu. The first year a couple of sandwiches, the Cudighi Yooper Sandwich and the Declaration of Indigestion made the cut and last year the fans took a decidly different tack with the ultra healthy "Chicks with Sticks" (celery, carrots and hummus dish).
"Food is an important part of the Whitecaps experience. We want to fans to weigh-in on the things they'd like to see here. It's ballpark tradition to grab a hot dog but sometimes you just want something different. That's why we offer things from wraps and salads to the Fifth Third Burger." Whitecaps President Scott Lane said.
Submissions will be taken through Thursday, February 2. They can be made through the Whitecaps facebook page (facebook.com/wmwcaps), or via e-mail at playball@whitecaps-baseball.com. All submissions should be accompanied with a description and a picture, if possible.
The food idea submissions will be whittled down to approximately 10 finalist, and starting February 21 fans will be able to vote for their choice for the new 2012 concessions item. Voting will take place on the Whitecaps website, whitecapsbaseball.com, and will end March 5. The winning entry will be on the menu for all fans to enjoy.
"There are many creative foodies out there so we are anxious to see their ideas." said Whitecaps Director of Marketing Mickey Graham.
The Whitecaps open the 2012 home season on Monday, April 9 against the Bowling Green Hot Rods at 6 pm. Season and group tickets are now on sale; individual tickets for the 2012 season will go on sale later this month. Complete ticket information, including season and group ticket prices and perks, is available at whitecapsbaseball.com.
