Orlando Predators News Release
Orlando, Fla. (June 4, 2007) -- Orlando Predators defensive lineman Greg White, who established a new record for quarterback sacks in a single season, has been named the ADT Defensive Player of the Month for May by the Arena Football League.
White registered 9.5 tackles, four quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass defense to go with 6.5 quarterback sacks in four games. White's totals included a career-high three sacks against the New Orleans VooDoo on May 11.
Other nominees for the award included Colorado DB Rashad Floyd, Columbus DB Brandon Hefflin, Los Angeles DB Eddie Canonico and OL/DL Jason Stewart, Tampa Bay DB Jeroid Johnson, Philadelphia OL/DL Dwayne Missouri, Austin DB Damon Mason, New York DB Billy Parker, San Jose WR/DB Marquis Floyd, and DB Clevan Thomas.
During last Friday night against San Jose - in a game that was not included in the May award - White dropped San Jose Quarterback Mike Grieb in the third quarter for his 14th quarterback sack of the season. That total moved him past Silas Demary (13.5 quarterback sacks, 2005, Los Angeles). White passes Demary in just his 11th game of the season after missing two contests this year with an elbow injury. White will have three more regular season games to add to his total.
