Wheeling Wildcats Sign David Dinkins for 2009 Season

Wheeling, WV- The Wheeling Wildcats Professional Indoor Football Team has announced the signing of WR David Dinkins for the 2009 season. Dinkins brings 2 seasons of NFL Experience with the Buffalo Bills, and has played in the NFL Europe and the Arena Football League. Dinkins, a league All-Star and 2005 AIFL League MVP is regarded as one of the more versatile, and explosive players in the indoor game. Dinkins has played at receiver and quarterback the past two seasons under current Wildcats coach Shawn Liotta.

"I am thrilled to have Dave Dinkins back with us this year. He is a very explosive, talented player who we will use in a variety of ways to attack a defense. He has the versatility to line up at WR, RB, or QB and cause a magnitude of problems for our opponents. Dave Dinkins will be a key component as we make our run at the 2009 CIFL Championship," commented Liotta.

Dinkins comes to the Wildcats from the Erie RiverRats of the AIFA. In 2008 Dinkins spent time at quarterback and receiver for the RiverRats. Dinkins finished the 2008 season with 39 catches for 404 yards and 4 TD's, added 209 yards passing and 5 TD's, and 38 yards rushing and 2 TD's. He led the Pittsburgh RiverRats to the playoffs in its inaugural season and was named by the league's coaches to the AIFA North All-Star team. Dinkins displayed his versatility by leading the RiverRats offense with 59 touchdowns in a variety of ways, including 49 passing, 7 rushing, and 3 receiving. He was the leading rusher among quarterbacks in the league in yards and touchdowns. Dinkins led the Pittsburgh offense in its "perfect game" against Erie scoring touchdowns on every one of its possessions on the way to setting a league record with 86 points scored. Dinkins joined the RiverRats in August 2006 after spending the previous 2 seasons with the Erie Freeze where he won a league MVP award and established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in indoor football. He played with the Buffalo Bills of the NFL for 2 seasons and the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe. Dinkins played college football at Morehead State where he became the first individual in the I-AA division to throw for more than 5,000 yards (5,572) and rush for more than 3,000 yards (3,765).
