August 7, 2019 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Atlanta Blaze News Release

Atlanta,GA - During halftime of the August 3rd matchup against the Dallas Rattlers at Silverbacks Stadium, Blaze Executive Vice President W David Livingston presented the Wheeler Junior Wildcat Lacrosse Association with the 2019 Community Grant program on behalf of Major League Lacrosse and US Lacrosse.

The Community Grant program- a continuation of the US Lacrosse Grant program- is presented to deserving youth programs to help eliminate any possible financial hardships. With the resources provided from both Major League Lacrosse and US Lacrosse, Wheeler Lacrosse will be able to provide its youth members with scholarships, uniforms, and any other necessary equipment.

The Wildcats are recognized for their promotion of the sport of Lacrosse and the popularization of Lacrosse in Atlanta communities where the sport is not well known. Based out of the metro Atlanta area, the Wheeler Jr program serves youth and middle school boys from grades 4-8 in the Wheeler High School district- including free summer mini-camps for new and experienced players.

Blaze Owner Andre Gudger's primary goal in relocating the team into Atlanta is to raise awareness about the sport of Lacrosse with residents of the surrounding communities. Recent Blaze outreach initiatives include TryLax, a lacrosse clinic designed to introduce the sport to over 100 young new players.
