Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings and Campbells' Grass Roots Hockey Program have announced the return of it's popular "Hockey Mom of the Month" contest for the 2004-05 campaign.

This is the third year for this particular contest.

Participating merchants include the following;

Robbins Fine Foods of Souris, Melita Fine Foods, Bruce's Fine Foods of Virden, the Valleyview Co-op stores in Oak Lake and Virden as well as the Russell IGA, Sobeys Cash and Carry in Brandon and Deloraine's Heritage Co-op.

For being chosen "Hockey Mom of the Month", the lucky winner will receive the following;

* $25 gift certificate from Campbells * Campbell's Collector gift * Wheat Kings' ticket package

In addition, the winner will be recognized at one of the final Wheat King home games of each month.

The first winner of the season is Brenda Lee Pellerin of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan - the first time that a winner has come from outside of western Manitoba.

Brenda Lee was nominated by her son Tony, who describes his mom as "unreal. She does everything and anything to make sure that I am not going without. My mom deserves this because she is absolutely wonderful. She goes out of her way to ensure I am happy and no doubt about it she has done so."

To nominate your mom for November, fans are encouraged to visit the Wheat Kings' official web site located at www.wheatkings.com
