Danbury Whalers News Release
The Danbury Whalers are home tonight & tomorrow to take on the Watertown Wolves on Saturday & Sunday. Gametimes are Saturday at 7:35 PM and Sunday is 5 PM.
This one could be a potential playoff match-up and it is going to be action packed.
Saturday is the 4th annual New Haven Night. This is now known as Kevin Tennyson New Haven Night sponsored by TK's American Café. This night will pay tribute to 76 years of professional hockey in New Haven. The Whalers will wear throwback jerseys from the 2000-2002 seasons when the team was known as the Knights. Fans can place a bid on the jerseys and take them home that night.
The jerseys will feature a KT patch, honor Danbury Whalers off-ice official who passed away in the off-season.
There will also be a Phil Esposito jersey in the auction as the Whalers Head Coach played for the Knights during the 2000-01 season. Espo wore #44 that season.
Saturday night is the team's 2nd Annual Banner Day. Fans of all age are encouraged to make a banner for the team. There will be an on ice judging of the best banners. The winner takes home a great prize package.
Callari Auto Group is also doing a shoot to win a new vehicle. Yes - a new vehicle.
Saturday's fundraising program features - Danbury Crush Softball, Paul Mitchell School, St. Josephs School of Brookfield, and Northville Elementary School. Be sure to eat at Two Steps Downtown Grille before the game. Try the Big Juicy Danbury Whalers Burger - It's fantastic.
At the game be sure stop down to the Penalty Box Lounge at the Danbury Ice Arena for the pre-game show and get yourself a pulled pork sandwich from The Cookhouse. Voted CT's best BBQ 18 straight years.
