19-3, Battalion Dominate Warriors

In a game where the score would end with a 16 goal margin the story almost tells itself. The Berkshire Battalion owned their home ice and skated to a resounding victory.

The Berkshire Battalion jumped on the road team early when Tom "Danger" Tracy fired home a shot which beat the Warriors goalie James Robbins and put the Battalion up 1-0 just 2:10 into the game. 1:26 later Vadim Guskov would rifle one home past Robbins to give the home team a 2-0 advantage. Steel City would not go quietly early in this one however and Denis Semenov read a passing attempt and picked off the puck. Semenov would go screaming down the ice and after a nice deke put the puck home past Steve Messina, 2-1 game. The only penalty of the period was a Nikita Sturmankin hooking call at 8:09 which was killed off well by Steel City. Berkshire peppered Robbins with 20 shots in the period while Messina only faced 5 Warrior's shots.

The Battalion would dominate the Warriors throughout the 2nd period and 9 unanswered goals would blow the game wide open. The scoring was opened when Tyler Prendergast scored one of his 2 in the period, followed by a Dimitry Antipin goal. Dolman would score, Guskov would tally his 2nd of the game just after, followed by Prendergast's 2nd. Dolman would tally his 2nd of the period again followed by Martin Uhnak, and then it was the Mike Kaselowskas show. While shorthanded Kaz would battle through 2 defenders in the near corner only to spring free and bury the puck shortside on the replacement netminder Max Yezdzik. Following this up he would come screaming down the wing after a good lead pass from Vlad Gavrik and fire one through the legs of Yezdzik to make it an 11-1 game. The Warriors would show a little life as with 30 seconds left Nicholas Sturmankin would score to make it 11-2. Shots were 21-7 in favor of Berkshire in the 2nd.

Berkshire would pick up where they left off in the 3rd and just 1:21 in Vadim Guskov would score his 3rd of the game, which he would follow up with his 4th just 2 minutes later. Prendergast, not to be outdone would get the hat trick and also get a 4th in the period as well. All told the Battalion would put up 8 in the 3rd period as Dolman would have his 3rd, Antipin and Uhnak their 2nd goals each, and Vlad Gavrik would score the 19th. Steel City once again proving they would not go quietly scored a wacky goal which bounced off a few bodies in front, crediting Denis Seminov with his 2nd goal of the game to finish it at 19-3.

Steve Messina would block 21 of 23 in the win while James Robbins would play 50:15 of the game stopping 37 of 52, while his replacement for the last 9:39 of the 2nd period Maximilian Yazdzik would stop 4 of 8.

Dashers Edge Demonz, 4-3

After falling to Dayton 2-1 last night in Dayton, The Demonz came to Danville this time and took on the Dashers in front of a packed house. The Demonz however, picked up right where they left off last night, scoring and early goal from Roger Togoona. The Dashers, finding themselves in an early hole, battled back by getting a power play goal from Gehrett Sargis, off a great centering pass from John Scully. The Demonz took back the lead on a goal from Mark Rivera, but again the Dashers battled back, and again on the power play, but this time the goal came from Justin Brausen, with A.J. Tesoriero getting the assist on the goal. The Demonz and Dashers were tied at two goals apiece entering the second period.

Entering the second period both the Dashers and Demons are tied at 2-2. By the looks of the first period you could tell it was going to be a good game. Both teams came out of the locker room fired up and ready to go. Dashers scored early to take a 3-2 lead, goal scorer Justin Brausen just barely getting it past Demons goalie, Dan McWhinney. Danville had the momentum for most of the period after scoring that goal and it seemed they were just going to keep scoring, but Demons own Mark Revera scores and ties it 3-3 midway through the second.

Once again this year, the Danville Dashers go into the third period tied and just hoping to get a goal, take the lead and play their best on defense to keep the lead and potentially win the game. Now the Danville players really feed off of the crowds and energy no matter what the situation is, being up by three or even being down by three. So Justin Brausen did just that tonight, fed off of the energy of a crowd of over 1,300 people in attendance at the David S. Palmer Arena to score a hat trick goal and give the Dashers a 4-3 lead. Brausens goal would be the last goal of the night and would be the dagger to put the Demons away.

Your three stars for tonight would be, at #3 Justin Levac with two assists; #2 Gehrett Sargis with one goal; and your #1 star of the night would be Justin Brausen who scored a hat trick in Danvilles route to beat the Dayton Demons 4-3 in what will be one of the best games of the year. Danville and Dayton will face off one last time this season at the David S. Palmer Arena tomorrow night. Danville improves to 27-19-4 as they continue their hot streak, and the Dayton Demons move to 32-13-4 on the season. As the season winds down you could see both of these teams potentially making a run in the playoffs, that's if they don't play each other right off the bat.
