WINDSOR - Ryan McGinnis' power play goal with 41 seconds remaining in the second period snapped a 2-2 tie and the Plymouth Whalers went on to defeat the Windsor Spitfires, 4-2, in Game Two of the best-of-seven Ontario Hockey League Western Conference Quarterfinal Series played Sunday night before 2,657 at Windsor Arena.

Plymouth leads the best-of-seven series, two-games-to-none.

Tom Sestito, Andrew Fournier and Evan Brophey scored the other Plymouth goals, while Whalers goaltender Justin Peters stopped 28 of 30 Windsor shots as the game's second star.

Patrick Davis and Bryan Bickell scored for Windsor. Spitfire goaltender Anthony Guadagnolo stopped 17 of 21 Plymouth shots.

For the second straight game in the series, Windsor took a 2-0 lead, getting a power play goal from Davis at 3:29 of the first period and Bickell's third of the series at 12:58 of the period. And for the second straight game, Plymouth came back, cutting the Windsor lead to 2-1, 17 seconds after Bickell's goal on Sestito's deflection at 13:15 and Fournier's deflection of a McGinnis point shot that went five-hole through Guadagnolo at 16:23.

Peters save his best work of the game in the second period, making several sparkling saves. McGinnis' eventual game-winner came at the end of some hard work by the Whalers in the Windsor zone. Plymouth's John Armstrong - stationed along the left wing boards in the Windsor zone - found McGinnis at the right point, who made no mistake on the shot.

Whalers capped the scoring in the third period at 9:50 of the third period on good work by the line of James Neal, John Vigilante and Brophey, with Brophey finishing excellent Plymouth forechecking by scoring his third goal in two games in the series. In all, Brophey has five points in the series so far.

Plymouth hosts Windsor in Game Three of this series on Tuesday at 7:30 pm at the Compuware Sports Arena. Playoff tickets can be purchased by phone by calling the Compuware Sports Arena box office at (734) 453-8400 or by purchasing tickets at the box office Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7 pm.
