Randy Hevey has shown why he was the number one goaltender in the WHA2 this season. Hevey is 2-0 with a 2.45 GAA and a .936 save percentage.

Miami's All-Star defenseman Tom Perry led all scorers with six points (4g-2a). WHA2 FINALS - GAME ONE SUMMARY

Kory Baker got the Barracudas on the board first with his first goal of the play-offs. Macon's David Deeves tied it up midway through the first and the teams went to the first intermission tied at one. The second period was scoreless until Macon iced the puck with 15 seconds remaining in the period. Klage Kaebel won the draw back to Lyle Steenbergen who took to puck, untouched down the right wing boards then broke across the goal toward the net and tucked it through the pads of Geoff Faulkner with only 8.2 seconds remaining in the period. The Trax tied it up early in the third when Luke Murphy beat Randy Hevey and that was it for scoring in regulation.

The Barracudas had a chance to win it in regulation but Geoff Faulkner made a huge pad save on Lyle Steenbergen with under a minute left in regulation.

In the overtime, Cudas goaltender Randy Hevey cleared the puck up the left wing boards where Jay McCabe lugged it into the Macon zone. He dropped the puck between his legs and Jamie Miller slapped it home in the overtime to give the Cudas a 3-2 win and a one game to none series advantage.
