
West Coast League President Steps Down
May 6, 2013 - West Coast League (WCL) News Release
West Coast League President Ken Wilson announced this past week that he will be stepping down from his role. Wilson will remain as an advisor and consultant to the League through August 31st of this year. Current WCL Vice President, Eddie Poplawski will serve as the League's primary contact and administrator until a successor for Wilson is hired.
Wilson had an impressive five year tenure with the league. Under his leadership, the league expanded into several new markets. "Ken was an integral part of the growth and success of the West Coast League during the past five years," said Poplawski. "We certainly wish Ken well, and thank him for everything he has done for the League."
The West Coast League is the Diamond Standard among summer college baseball. The professional style wood-bat league features pro prospects from major conferences across the country. More than 120 WCL alums played affiliated professional baseball last season, and 20 ex-WCL stars played in the Major Leagues last season.
