
Wendy McCauley Hired as Vice President of Comets Business Operations

HOUSTON â The Houston Comets announced today the hiring of Wendy McCauley to the newly created position of Vice President of Comets Business Operations. McCauley will oversee the day-to-day business operations of the Comets, including ticket sales and services, as well as corporate development.
"We are so pleased to have Wendy join us with the Comets," said Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Broadcasting Tad Brown. "She brings a tremendous knowledge and work experience to help us further develop our Comets business and build on the great foundation established during our first eight years."
McCauley, who brings over eight years of experience in event planning and coordination as well as marketing and sales, comes to the Comets after serving as the Associate Executive Director, NCAA Events & Development for the San Antonio Sports Foundation. While with the San Antonio Sports Foundation, McCauley was a member of the senior staff team that assisted the Executive Director.

From January 2000 to June 2004, McCauley worked as Executive Director for the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee. In that position, she served as a liaison between the City of San Antonio, the University of Texas at San Antonio, the San Antonio Sports Foundation and the NCAA to host successful Final Four events, including the 2002 NCAA Women's Final Four and 2004 NCAA Men's Final Four. McCauley was responsible for coordinating over 15 committees, including transportation, housing, marketing, public relations and nearly 1,600 volunteers.
Prior to her work with the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee, McCauley was an Account Executive for the San Antonio Convention & Visitor's Bureau. McCauley also served as Sales & Marketing Manager for the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio, where she established the Freeman Coliseum Area Hospitality Association to form a relationship with surrounding hotels and generate business for the Coliseum. McCauley's previous work with the San Antonio Final Four was as the Assistant to the Director on the 1998 NCAA Men's Final Four Local Organizing Committee. Her background also includes a stint as Quality Assurance Manager for Celebrity Cruises, Inc.
Born in Houston and raised in San Antonio, McCauley earned her bachelor's degree in public relations from Texas Tech in 1994. She also holds a minor in English. McCauley has also been very active in the community with the San Antonio Rotary and Leadership San Antonio. She has served in the San Antonio Rotary Mentor Program (Fox Tech High School) and has been a speaker for Southwest Winners Foundation.
