Chicago Fire FC News Release
CHICAGO - Chicago Fire FC will head to Texas to face the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, June 25 at PNC Stadium. The match against Houston will kick off at 7:00 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on UniMás, TUDN and Twitter (with English-language audio). It will also be transmitted locally in Spanish on Univision Radio.
It will be the 27th encounter between Chicago and Houston, and their first since the two teams met on at Soldier Field on September 23, 2020. Goals from Robert Berić, Fabian Herbers, Álvaro Medrán and C.J. Sapong propelled Chicago to a 4-0 win in that match against Houston.
Saturday's contest will also mark the Fire's first trip to Houston in nearly three years. The team last played in Houston on Aug. 6, 2019, with forward Nemanja Nikolić finishing off an assist from Nicolas Gaitán in the third minute of first half stoppage time to lead the Fire to a 1-0 victory.
Chicago (3-7-5, 14 points) is coming off a 1-0 victory against D.C. United in which a 78th-minute goal from Fabian Herbers snapped a 10-game wineless streak in front of 17,650 fans at Soldier Field on Saturday night. With Saturday's win, the Fire have shut out six opponents in their first 15 games and are ranked second in the league for shutouts, behind only New York City FC (eight).
Houston (5-7-3, 18 points) is coming off a 2-1 loss on Saturday against Orlando City at Exploria Stadium. A goal in the 59th minute from Sebastian Ferreira wasn't enough to overcome a brace by Orlando's Ercan Kara. Overall, Houston has produced a 3-2-3 record in eight league games played at home so far this season. Ferreira leads the team in goals scored with six in 13 appearances (13 starts).
