Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel (2-1-0-0; 4 pts.) will try to extend their current two-game winning streak as they embark upon a busy holiday week with three games over the next four days. Bunched around Thanksgiving, the stretch begins with a faceoff tonight against the Green Bay Gamblers (3-1-0-1; 7 pts.) at 7:05 pm CT at Resch Center in Wisconsin.

After the Wednesday night tilt, the Steel return to home ice for a pair of matchups against Team USA (1-0-0-0; 2 pts.) at Fox Valley Ice Arena on Friday (vs. U17) and Saturday (vs. U18), both 7:05 pm CT start times.

Saturday's game marks the return of former Steel Coach Dan Muse to Fox Valley Ice Arena. Muse guided Chicago to its only Clark Cup Championship in 2016-2017, and he returns as Head Coach of Team USA U18 following three seasons in the NHL as an Assistant Coach with the Nashville Predators.

Last weekend, the Steel defeated the Gamblers in both games of a home-and-home set. Chicago notched a 7-3 victory for their first win of the season on Nov. 20 and closed the weekend with a thrilling 4-3 win in a shootout on Nov. 21. Green Bay scored first in both contests, but the Gamblers were unable to hold the lead in either matchup. Forward Cam Thiesing has scored three goals over the two games against the Steel this season.

Through three games played, two Chicago skaters rank in the top five in USHL scoring. Forwards Matt Coronato (Eight points; 4G, 4A) and Mackie Samoskevich (Seven points; 7A) rank third and fourth, respectively. Defenseman Jack Babbage has netted a goal in each game thus far, sharing the league lead for markers by blueliners with three goals overall.

Team USA notched a win in their only game of the season thus far, a 10-6 victory against the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Nov. 22 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. First-year forward Issac Howard notched a five-point game (3G, 2A) in his first USHL action while Tyler Boucher added two goals of his own. Dylan Silverstein stopped 28 shots in his Team USA debut between the pipes, earning the win.

Team USA (U18) Forwards Chaz Lucius and Sasha Pastujov as well as defensemen Luke Hughes and Roman Schmidt were ranked as 'A'-level prospects on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary watch list released on Oct. 27. 'A'-level prospects project to be potential first-round NHL Draft selections according to NHL Central Scouting.

Chicago will travel to Dubuque, Iowa on Dec. 4 for a clash against the Fighting Saints. Last season, the teams were first and second in the Eastern Conference standings when the season was canceled in March.
