The West Coast League's Moss Adams Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, as announced by Commissioner Rob Neyer, are Walla Walla Sweets outfielder Ben Parker (William & Mary) and Cowlitz Black Bears right-hander Jaron DeBerry (Dallas Baptist).

Last week, Parker went 13 for 21 in five games while scoring eight runs for the Sweets. He has been one of the WCL's top hitters this summer, producing a .394 batting average in 26 games. This spring the rising senior was named to the ABCA's All-America Second Team and earned fourth-team D3baseball.com All-America honors for Whitman College after hitting .378 with 15 home runs. The grad transfer is set to continue his college career next season with William & Mary.

Friday against the defending WCL champion Corvallis Knights, Cowlitz's DeBerry delivered one of the WCL's most masterful pitching performances in recent years, twirling a complete-game shutout while allowing only two hits and no walks. In four outings this summer, DeBerry is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA for the Black Bears. This spring as a junior he appeared in 20 games with a 3-1 record for Dallas Baptist.

Tredwell Becomes MLB Draft Day 1 Selection

Sunday, UCLA right-hander Alonzo Tredwell became the first former WCL player selected in the 2023 MLB Draft when he was chosen in the second round by the Houston Astros with the 61st overall pick.

Tredwell pitched for the Portland Pickles in 2021 before an impressive two-year career with the Bruins. The 6'8 ‚¬Â³ hurler went 8-3 with a 2.83 ERA and 113 strikeouts in 92 innings during his two seasons in Westwood. The MLB Draft continues today with rounds 3 through 10, before concluding Tuesday with rounds 11 through 20.
