Home Sweet Home:

The Jacks are back on home ice for the first time in 2022. They went 8-5-1-1 in 2021 while in front of their hometown fans. The Jacks are 2-3-0-1 so far in 2022. Their opponent for this weekend is 5-1-1 in the new year. For the second-straight weekend, the Jacks will face the Wichita Falls Warriors. It is the first time this season that the Warriors are traveling to Odessa, TX. They are 6-3-1 in their previous ten games (40GF/26GA). The Jacks are 4-4-1-1 in their last ten games (36GF/41GA). Wichita Falls leads the South Division in goals with 121. Odessa is tied with New Mexico for second-most goals at 118. Wichita Falls has scored five or more goals in three of the four meetings against Odessa. They put up six on two separate occasions against the Jacks this season.

Extra Period:

The Jacks have had ten out of their 36 games extend past 60 minutes. Which is the second-most behind Lone Star (11). They are 6-1 in overtime and 1-2 in shootouts. Their six overtime wins are the most out of any team in the league. There have already been three games this calendar year in which the Jacks had to go beyond 60 minutes. Wichita Falls is 1-5 in the 3-on-3 overtime and 0-2 in the shootout. Giving them a win percentage of .125% which is the lowest in the league. The most recent game between the Jacks and Warriors went past regulation with Odessa winning with only 30 seconds left in the extra period. Odessa and Lone Star are the only teams from the South Division to have earned at least one point in every weekend series this season.

Power Play:

Wichita Falls is tied with Amarillo and Springfield for the second-best power play in the NAHL (25%). The Warriors have the fourth-most power-play goals at 32. Last weekend they went 3/9 on the man advantage against Odessa. The Jacks went 2/6. They will enter this weekend ranked 22nd on the power play (15.4%). Their 19 power-play goals tie them with Lone Star for 21st in the league. Last Saturday was the first time since November 5, 2021 (vs. El Paso) that the Jacks scored two power-play goals in a single game.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:

Warriors (F: #11 - William Lawson-Body)

The native of Grand Forks, ND is in his second season in the NAHL. The 19-year-old was the #37 overall pick by the Warriors in 2020. In 2021, he was drafted #186 overall by the Lincoln Stars (USHL). Last season, the 5'9"/165lb. right-handed forward played 56 games for the Warriors in his rookie season. He finished fourth on the team in points (7g, 22a). This year, Lawson-Body has played 31 games for Wichita Falls and has scored 33 points. His 25 assists are a team-high. Before entering the NAHL, Lawson-Body played three years of high school hockey for Grand Forks Central High (USHS-ND). He played 79 games for them and totaled 123 points (51g). In 2020-21, Lawson-Body was named to the NAHL All-South Division Rookie Team. He also was named South Division Star of the Week for November 22-28, 2021, after scoring a goal and helping on three others during a weekend series against Lone Star. Lawson-Body has one goal and seven assists in his previous five games.

Jackalopes (D: #24 - Charlie Banquier)

This is Banquier's second season in the NAHL. The Oakville, ON native scored six points (1g) in 47 games for the Jacks during his rookie season. The 19-year-old was recently voted on by his teammates to be one of the assistant captains for the rest of this season. The 6'3"/195lb. right-handed defenseman has the second-most points on the team at his position (14). He leads all d-men in assists (13) and leads the team power-play assists (7). Banquier is tied for third on the team in +/- with nine. He has one goal and three assists in his last five games. Before reaching the NAHL, Banquier played seven games for Rhode Island Saints 18U AAA (BEAST 18U). He also spent 2019-20 playing for Mount St. Charles Academy 18U AAA. He played 63 games for them and recorded 22 points (7g).
