Odessa Jackalopes News Release
ODESSA, TX - The Jackalopes have announced today the members of the 2021-22 leadership team. The leadership team was voted on by the players. Frank Dovorany was selected as captain. Conner Couet, Charlie Banquier, and Ryan Kusler were named assistant captains.
Head Coach Scott Deur stated this regarding the four players that will now wear a letter on their jerseys, "The team voted on the leadership group, and I think they did a great job of picking the players to represent the team. Since acquiring Frank, he has been a guy that the players have looked up to and have felt comfortable going to on and off the ice."
Dovorany is in his final season of junior eligibility. The Michigan Tech University commit started his NAHL career in 2020-21 with the Austin Bruins. Where he played 50 games and tallied ten points (9a). The Wausau, WI native started this season playing nine games for the Bruins (1g, 2a) before being acquired by Odessa. The 6'0"/185lb. left-handed defenseman has played 27 games for the Jacks so far and has produced eight points (2g). Before joining the NAHL, Dovorany was drafted #211 overall in 2018 by the Omaha Lancers (USHL). He played 36 games for them in 2018-19 and then the following year he played 49 games (8a) with the Madison Capitols (USHL).
"Being voted captain means a lot to me." Jackalopes captain Fran Dovorany said, "It unifies our team, allowing myself and other leaders to help lead the way for the great group of guys we have. It certainly comes with a lot more responsibility but I'm excited to try and get this team to the playoffs. Most importantly, I believe that creating team success will lead to individual success, so we can all continue to play the sport we love. Let's go Jacks."
Both Conner Couet and Charlie Banquier are in their second season with the Jackalopes. Couet was recently selected to represent the South Division at the upcoming 2022 Top Prospects Tournament. Banquier leads all Jackalope defensemen in assists (13) and he also leads the team in power-play assists with seven. This is Ryan Kusler's first year in the NAHL and he is tied for third on the team in +/- (9). All four players will debut their letters this weekend for the 25th-anniversary specialty jerseys.
