Evansville IceMen News Release
SEVENTH HEAVEN
Last time the IceMen and Cyclones met at the Ford Center, Evansville scored seven goals December 11. The IceMen jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and scored four straight goals in the second to lead 6-1, before closing off Cincinnati 7-3. It was Evansville's season-high for goals in a single game, after Vincent Dunn, Sebastian Strandberg, Matthew Zay, Tyson Fawcett, Chris Rumble and Nathan Moon all scored.
THE WEEK THAT WAS
Evansville skated into the weeklong Holiday break with three home games last week. The IceMen dropped a heartbreaker 6-5 in overtime Wednesday to the Atlanta Gladiators, but it was the fourth consecutive home game the team had scored five or more goals. Evansville came from behind to beat the Indy Fuel 2-1 Friday with two third period goals from Alex Wideman and Jordan Sims. Saturday was Teddy Bear Toss Night, and over 5,000 people attended the seventh annual event and donated thousands of teddy bears to local children's charities. The IceMen fell 3-1 to the Fuel that night, but are just five points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference with 46 games remaining.
CYCLONES' ROAD WOES
Cincinnati has one of the league's best home records thus far at 9-1-1-2 at US Bank Arena. The Cyclones, however, have struggled on the road, going 4-7-1-0. They have lost six of their last eight road games, leading up to the fourth meeting of the season with the IceMen Saturday in Evansville. Last week, Cincinnati dropped two games to Missouri, who has the best record in the ECHL. The Cyclones then wrapped up the weekend with a win in Wichita against the Thunder, who have the league's worst record.
