Week Five: Players of the Week

Coming out of week five, The Indoor Football League announced its Players of the Week on Tuesday, May 25. Duke City Gladiators quarterback Nate Davis claimed his first honors for Offensive Player of the Week along with Spokane Shock safety Cedric Poole notching his first Defensive Player of the Week. Sioux Falls Storm running back earned Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts in week five as well.

NATE DAVIS - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Quarterback Nate Davis was lighting up for the Gladiators in their matchup with the Iowa Barnstormers. Davis threw 19-of-25 passes for 228 yards a league season-high seven touchdowns. Davis' longest pass came early in the first quarter where he threw a 41-yard bomb to wide receiver Dello Davis for a touchdown to go up 14-0. Davis also had four rushing attempts for 20 yards and a touchdown.

CEDRIC POOLE - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Safety Cedric Poole made some key plays to help the Shock come back and defeat the Massachusetts Pirates. Poole came away with two interceptions in the game with the first coming with two seconds remaining in the first half to close the Pirates drive. Poole second came 9:30 remaining in the fourth quarter that would eventually set up a touchdown and make the score 26-19 in favor of the Pirates.

NATE CHAVIOUS - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Running back Nate Chavious handled all the kick returns for the Storm with six for 155 yards, with taking one return for a touchdown. With 17 seconds remaining in the second half, Chavious returned a kick 58 yards for a touchdown to give Sioux Falls a 23-21 lead.

Davis and the Gladiators will face the Tucson Sugar Skulls in their home opener while Chavious and the Storm will travel to take on the Louisville Xtreme for their first road test of the season.
