FRIDAY'S GAME

GRAND RAPIDS 68, Carolina 34 (Attendance: 10,594): Grand Rapids' STEVE SMITH returned the opening kickoff return 55 yards for a score and set the tone for the Rampage's (4-1) second largest victory in team history.

SATURDAY'S GAME

Chicago 40, BUFFALO 13 (Attendance: 9,543): Chicago's ANTONIO CHATMAN hauled in 10 catches for 145 yards and four touchdowns, including a stunning one-handed grab on a 33-yard bomb from quarterback BILLY DICKEN. The Rush (2-3) defense leads the AFL by allowing 37.4 points per contest.

SUNDAY'S GAMES

Colorado 38, INDIANA 35 (Attendance: 11,096): Colorado quarterback JOHN DUTTON found WR/DB CHARLIE DAVIDSON in the corner of the endzone with 49 seconds left in the game to propel the Crush (1-4) to its first victory in franchise history.

TAMPA BAY 62, Detroit 60 (Attendance: 15,434): Storm (3-2) used a four-touchdown performance by offensive specialist FREDDIE SOLOMON and held off a late charge by the Detroit Fury (3-2) to pick up a 62-60 victory.

Dallas 64, ARIZONA 63 (Attendance: 12,972): Dallas quarterback JIM KUBIAK delivered the game tying 10-yard touchdown pass to SHANNON CULVER in overtime, allowing kicker JASON WELLS to win the game with his extra point.

Orlando 72, NEW YORK 56 (Attendance: 11,216): Quarterback CONNELL MAYNOR, subbing for the injured Jay Gruden, tied a franchise record with eight touchdown passes, as the Predators (5-0) rolled to the victory. Predator offensive specialist TRAVIS MCGRIFF took MVP honors with five touchdowns (four receiving and a 54-yard kickoff return).

San Jose 72, LAS VEGAS 37 (Attendance: 8,627): Quarterback MARK GRIEB threw four touchdown passes and the San Jose defense scored a pair of touchdowns to propel the SaberCats to the victory as the SaberCats (3-2) climb into a tie for first in the Western Division with Los Angeles.

Georgia 46, LOS ANGELES 35 (Attendance: 12,728): Georgia (3-2) quarterback DONNIE DAVIS rebounded to have his best game of the season throwing for 26-of-37 for 275 yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions.
