Week 15 Player-of-the-Week Awards Announced

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football is proud to announce Players-of-the-Week awards for Week 15 of the 2005 season. Weekly awards are presented in three categories: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

Week 15 Offensive Player-of-the-Week is Dusty Bonner of Lexington. The 6'1", 220 pound quarterback completed 23 of 31 passes for 272 yards and five touchdowns in the first half of the Horsemen's 59-35 victory over the Tennessee Valley Raptors last Saturday. Bonner and the Horsemen entertain the Evansville Bluecats on Saturday, July 9, 2005.

Jason VanLoo of Peoria is the recipient of the Week 15 Defensive Player-of-the-Week honor. The 6'3", 250 pound linebacker recorded three solo tackles and 14 assisted tackles, including three for a loss, in a 56-35 loss to the Fort Wayne Freedom last week. Vanloo, a Central Missouri graduate, also logged 1.5 sacks. Vanloo and the Rough Riders host the Evansville Bluecats on Saturday, July 16, 2005.

Wrapping up the Week 15 awards in the Special Teams category is Evansville's Otis Shannon. The 5'10", 185 pound kick returner/runningback gained 86 yards on three kick returns, for an average of 29 yards per return. He returned one kick 50 yards for a touchdown in the 39-32 road victory over the Tupelo FireAnts last Saturday. This is the second weekly award this season for Shannon, who was honored as the Offensive Player-of-the-Week in Week 6. Shannon recorded 137 all-purpose yards, as he ran for 26 yards on six carries and caught two passes for 25 yards. Shannon and the Bluecats host the FireAnts in re-match on Saturday, July 2, 2005.
