Both the Steelhawks and the Revolution scored a field goal in the final quarter, which allowed the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks to maintain the lead over the Richmond Revolution, 38-35.
The second game for Saturday evening was between the Chicago Slaughter and Bloomington Extreme. Looking to show that they are at the top of the Great Lakes Division of the United Conference, the Slaughter dominated the beginning of the game by scoring 16 unanswered points in the entire first half. Coming out of halftime, the Extreme knew they must play harder in order to remain competitive in the game. They scored their first 13 points in the third quarter; however, they were not able to prevent the Slaughter from scoring 10 additional points. Statistically, the Extreme and Slaughter were closer matched with only a 31 yard difference in total yardage, 2 touchdown difference, and each team with one sack. The greatest difference was that the Slaughter was able to generate points and advantages from the yardage and sacks, plus three inceptions for 62 yards greatly helped the Slaughter. The fourth quarter was very much like the previous three quarters were the Slaughter outscored the Extreme 16-3 in the quarter, and 42-16 for the entire game.
The Omaha Beef visited the Wichita Wild on Saturday evening. The Wild started off strong, only allowing the Beef to score 6 points, while they scored 10; giving the Wild a 4 point advantage into the second quarter. Saturday evening the Wenatchee Valley Venom stopped by the Tri-Cities Fever for a Divisional matchup. Unfortunately for the Venom, the Fever came ready to play from start to finish. The Fever defense greatly stunted any productivity for the Venom with 2 inceptions, 3 sacks, and only allowing them one touchdown for the first 3 quarters of the game. By the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Fever offense was able to score a total of 66 points. After the first quarter, the Fever only allowed one field goal for the Venom in the fourth quarter, while they scored 14 more points in that quarter. Colorado Ice visited the Nebraska Danger on Saturday evening. Starting in the first quarter, the Ice showed that they looked to dominate the game. By halftime the Ice outscored the Danger 40-18. The Danger defense did not allow the Ice to score at all in the third quarter, and only one touchdown in the fourth quarter. The strong efforts of the Danger were not enough to overcome the damage from the first half. The Danger outscored the Ice 21-7, but the Colorado Ice was able to defeat the Nebraska Danger 47-39 at the close of the fourth quarter.
The Seattle Timberwolves visited the Wyoming Cavalry on Saturday evening looking for their fourth win of the season. The game started off with the Timberwolves exerting their will on the Cavalry, scoring 13 points compared to the 7 of the Cavalry; however, the Cavalry came back in the second quarter to take a 9 point lead into halftime. The top 2 teams of the Lonestar Division, the Allen Wranglers and the West Texas Roughnecks, met up on Saturday evening looking to show which of the two belonged at the top. In the second half of the game, the Roughnecks were able to outscore the Wranglers in both quarters; however, the Wranglers Defense did not allow for the Roughnecks to close in on the point-gap created in the first half by getting 1 interception and 6 sacks. The West Texas Roughnecks were not able to overcome the Allen Wranglers who won, 54-26.
For the first Sunday evening game, the Green Bay Blizzard visited the Sioux Falls Storm. The Blizzard looked to defeat the undefeated Storm. Each defense was able to get one pick, and the Storm got two sacks, while the Blizzard only got 1. Though the Green Bay Blizzard had great productivity and remained competitive throughout the game, the Sioux Falls Storm outscored them in each quarter, which gave the Storm the advantage at the close of the fourth quarter with a score of 57-38.
The final game for Week 13 was between the Fairbanks Grizzlies and the Reading Express, two of the top teams from the Pacific Division and Atlantic Division, respectively. Being that these are two high caliber teams, it is no surprise that they were well matched-up with each other. In three of the four quarters, the Grizzlies were able to outscore the Express, which gave the Grizzlies the advantage. The Grizzlies were able to overcome the power of the Express defense and their 3 sacks, to win the final Week 13 game with a score of 60-45.
