Green Bay Blizzard 56, LOUISVILLE FIRE 49 (Attendance: 6,961)
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Green Bay Blizzard (7-4) beat the Louisville Fire (6-5) for the second time this season in a close 56-49 contest at Freedom Hall. Green Bay held the lead the entire game until the Fire took a lead late in the third quarter. The Fire held this lead until Green Bay out scored the Fire 14-3 in the final five minutes of the game to take the win. Green Bay quarterback Johnny Turman completed 24-of-35 passes for 305 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Brent Holmes caught nine passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns. Rob Mager caught four touchdown passes on 16 receptions for 187 yards. Matt Sauk completed 34-of-51 passes for 396 yards and seven touchdowns with one interception.
Manchester Wolves 52, FLORIDA FIRECATS 29 (Attendance: 6,034)
ESTERO, Fla. - To avenge their only loss of the season, the Manchester Wolves (10-1) defeated the Florida Firecats (9-2) 52-29 at German Arena. Against one of the best defenses in the league, Jake Eaton threw for 263 yards and five touchdowns and no interceptions on 27-of-34 passing. He also rushed for one touchdown. The Wolves defense limited the Firecats Chris Wallace to 14-of-35 passing for 174 yards and two touchdowns. The league's tackle leader William Haith broke up four passes. Marc Bacote forced and recovered a fumble. The Wolves held the Firecats offense to 13 points through the first three quarters of play. Cainon Lamb caught four passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns for Florida. Keith Drayton recorded Florida's only sack of the game.
MACON KNIGHTS 53, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 41 (Attendance: 2,758)
MACON, Ga. - The Macon Knights (5-6) improved to within one game of .500 with a 53-41 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (6-5) at the Macon Coliseum. It was a back and forth game until a Hosea Laney intercepted a Bryan Snyder pass late in the third quarter and returned it eight yards for a touchdown to put the Knights up by 13 points. Snyder's next pass was intercepted by Tyrone Myers and the Knights turned that takeaway into points, taking what proved to be an insurmountable 20-point lead. Rocco Forgione caught seven passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns and Thomie Venisee caught five passes for 82 yards and three touchdowns for the Pioneers. Along with his interception, Tyrone Myers rushed five times for five net yards and two touchdowns. Jamaal Garman caught six passes for 60 yards and three touchdowns for the Knights.
AMARILLO DUSTERS 66, Bakersfield Blitz 55
AMARILLO, TEXAS - The Amarillo Dusters (7-4) became the first team to score 60 or more points against the Bakersfield Blitz (4-7) in their 66-55 win at the Amarillo Civic Center. The Offensive Player of the Game, Chavis McCollister, caught eight passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns for the Dusters. His last score was the most important, when he took a pass 35 yards for a score that came on a Dusters' fourth-and-10 play with under a minute to go. Kendrick Walker eight passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff 47 yards for a score to earn U.S. Army Ironman of the game honors. Bakersfield's Jason Thomas completed 17-of-23 passes for 271 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. He also rushed five times for 21 yards. Rennard Reynolds caught seven passes for 149 yards and three touchdowns.
TULSA TALONS 91, San Diego Riptide 68 (Attendance 5,926)
Tulsa, Okla. - With a combined 159 points, the Tulsa Talons (8-3) defeated the San Diego Riptide (4-7) 91-68 at the Tulsa Convention Center. The game featured two stellar quarterback performances. San Diego's Kane Claunch threw for 317 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions on 21-of-39 passing. Tulsa's Josh Blankenship turned 14-of-23 passing into 196 yards and eight touchdowns with no interceptions. He moved his touchdown passes around to five different receivers with Aleric Clark and Donovan Morgan both catching three and Robert Reed, Toby Moeves and Corky Martin all catching one touchdown pass. Moeves and Martin both scored touchdowns on fumble recoveries as well. Tulsa's Chris McIver also recorded a safety. Steve Gonzalez and Nian Taylor both caught four touchdowns for San Diego.
BOSSIER-SHREVEPORT BATTLE WINGS 54, Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz 46 (Attendance: 2,107)
BOSSIER CITY, La. - Fighting back from an early ten-point deficit, the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings (3-8) kept the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (6-5) scoreless in the second quarter en route to a 54-46 win at the CentruyTel Center. Bossier-Shreveport's Tim Hicks was 18-of-34 for 235 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions. Hicks also rushed for a score. Reggie Perkins caught 10 passes for 119 yards and four touchdowns. Oklahoma City rushed for three touchdowns while B.J. Barre, Carlos Johnson and Al Hunt all caught one touchdown. The Battle Wings defense forced three turnovers on downs and two fumbles to stop five Yard Dawgz drives.
ARKANSAS TWISTERS 59, South Georgia Wildcats 28 (Attendance: 6,373)
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Arkansas Twisters moved to 2-9 with a 59-28 win over the South Georgia Wildcats (2-9) at Alltel Arena. After starting the game down 0-18 South Georgia thought they grabbed momentum when Brian Zbydniewski found Antwone Savage on a 19-yard touchdown pass with four seconds left in the first half. But Arkansas grabbed the momentum right back when Robert Kilow returned the ensuing kickoff 54 yards for a touchdown. Arkansas rode this momentum to the victory. Arkansas' Darnell Small rushed six times for 57 yards and three touchdowns. Small also registered a sack and recovered a fumble on defense. Quarterback Kevin Feterik ran for two touchdowns and threw for two touchdowns. For South Georgia Drakus Langford totaled 10.5 tackles (9UA-3AT), two interceptions and two tackles for a loss.
MEMPHIS XPLORERS 62, Birmingham Steeldogs 32 (Attendance: 2,751)
SOUTHHAVEN, Miss. - The Memphis Xplorers (10-1) jumped out to a 49-0 halftime lead over the Birmingham Steeldogs (1-10) before winning 62-32 at the DeSoto Civic Center. Memphis' quarterback Brian Jones completed 7-of-7 passes for 118 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for two touchdowns all in the first half. On his first pass of the second half Jones injured his right knee and didn't play the rest of the game. Kevin Prentiss turned all three of his receptions into touchdowns, totaling 67 yards. The Memphis defense totaled three sacks and four interceptions. Dahnel Singfield recorded two interceptions and 10 total passes broken up. Birmingham's Dion Meredith recorded a safety and Milas Randle returned an interception five yards for a touchdown late in the game.
RIO GRANDE VALLEY DORADOS 55, Central Valley Coyotes 36 (Attendance: 4,525)
HIDALGO, TEXAS - The tightfisted Dorados defense gave their team the opportunity to comeback from a 29-20 deficit at halftime by only giving up seven points to the Coyotes offense the rest of the game. Rio Grande Valley quarterback Josh Kellet cashed in going 26-of-34 passing for 241 yards and five touchdowns leading his team to 35 points in the second half and earning Offensive Player of the Game honors. The ADT Defensive Player of the Game Award was given to Dorados WR/DB Pierre Thomas for his dominant 9.0 tackle one interception performance. Central Valley receiver George Williams pulled in seven passes for 190 yards and a touchdown but was shutdown by the strong Dorados defense in the second half. Marquis Floyd and Dwight Counter each had seven receptions for Rio Grande Valley, a total of six players caught passes for the Dorados. Floyd also intercepted two passes earning him U.S. Army Ironman of the Game honors. Vai Notoa and DeRonn Finley led the Coyotes with 5.0 tackles each.
QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS 62, Albany Conquest 50 (Attendance: 5,162)
MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Steamwheelers (5-6) got themselves back in the playoff picture following an impressive and decisive 62-50 victory over the Albany Conquest (3-8) Saturday night in front of 5,162 fans at The Mark of the Quad Cities. Offensive Player of the Game and Quad City quarterback Sam Clemons went 19-of-28 passing for 287 yards and seven touchdowns with no interceptions. Conquest quarterback D Bryant had 27-of-46 passing for 314 yards and six touchdowns with two interceptions. Steamwheeler DeOnte Taylor was a nightmare for the Albany offense garnering 5.5 tackles and one interception earning him ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors. Torey Morris, Jeff Hewitt, and Tim Dodge each caught two touchdown passes for Quad City in a well-rounded offensive attack. Dodge also had 4.5 tackles and two broken up passes earning him the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game Award. The Conquest's Pete McBride had seven tackles including six solo.
