Week 11 Players of the Week Named

July 6, 2021 - Indoor Football League (IFL) News Release


The Indoor Football League announced the Week 11 Players of the Week on Tuesday, July 6. Duke City Gladiators quarterback Nate Davis took his second Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2021 season, Massachusetts Pirates defensive back Ahmad Dixon earned Defensive Player of the Week, and kicker Josh Gable was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season.

NATE DAVIS - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Quarterback Nate Davis was firing on all cylinders for the Gladiators offense. Davis completed 80 percent of his passes (12-of-15) for 151 yards through the air and six touchdowns. He also had five rushing attempts for 40 yards and one touchdown. This marks back-to-back weeks Davis has contributed seven total touchdowns.

AHMAD DIXON - DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Defensive back Ahmad Dixon led the charge for the Pirates defense and made some key plays behind the line of scrimmage. Dixon finished the game with a season-high 10 tackles with three tackles for loss and one sack. Dixon and the Pirates defense held the Frisco Fighters scoreless in the fourth quarter to help set up the game-winning field goal.

JOSH GABLE - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Kicker Josh Gable answered the call, once again, to seal a victory for the Pirates in Week 11. Gable converted on all five of his extra point attempts and, although he was only 1-of-3 on field goals, he hit the game winning field goal as time expired against the Frisco Fighters. This marks back-to-back games Gable has hit the game-sealing field goal for Massachusetts.

Next Davis and the Gladiators will travel to take on the Tucson Sugar Skulls on Saturday, July 10, at 8:05 p.m. CT. Dixon, Gable and the Pirates will be back in Massachusetts to host the Bismarck Bucks on Saturday, July 10, at 6:05 p.m. CT.
