Week 10: Players of the Week Named

The Indoor Football League announced the Week 10 Players of the Week on Tuesday, June 28. Northern Arizona Wranglers quarterback Verlon Redd Jr. took Offensive Player of the Week, Sioux Falls Storm defensive back Jermaine Robinson earned Defensive Player of the Week and Frisco Fighters wide receiver named Special Teams Player of the Week.
VERLON REED JR. - OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Northern Arizona quarterback Verlon Reed Jr. led the way to the Wranglers' first win as a franchise over the Tucson Sugar Skulls, 48-44, on Saturday, June 26. Reed Jr. threw 8-of-17 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Reed Jr. also contributed to the run game with seven rushes for 90 yards and three touchdowns. On the first drive of the game, Reed Jr. capped off the offensive series with a 42-yard strike to Todd Athey for a touchdown. Then later in the fourth quarter, Reed Jr. snuck into the endzone with 30 seconds left to put the Wranglers up and seal the victory.
JERMAINE ROBINSON - DEFENSIVE PLAYER THE WEEK
Sioux Falls defensive back Jermaine Robinson led the way in a strong defensive performance by the Storm to defeat the Bismarck Bucks, 52-27, on Saturday, June 26. Robinson finished the night with three total tackles, two solo, one pass breakup and grabbed two interceptions. Robinson helped set the tone early on the defensive end with his first interception halfway through the first quarter and set the Storm up for a touchdown.
MARQUES RODGERS - SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Frisco wide receiver Marques Rodgers made his debut with the Fighters and provided a big spark for the Special Teams unit against the Duke City Gladiators on Saturday, June 26. Rodgers had six returns for 151 yards and was able to take one back for a touchdown. Rodgers brought energy to the Fighters in the second half with returning the ensuing kick of the third quarter for 54 yards and put Frisco up, 38-22.
Reed Jr. and the Wranglers' next match-up is against the Duke City Gladiators, while Rodgers and the Fighters will face the Massachusetts Pirates. Both games are set for Saturday, July 3, at 7:05 p.m. Robinson and the Storm will enter their final BYE week of the season.
