SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce defenceman Bailey Webster and forward Ostap Safin have won team awards for the month of February.

Webster, 20, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.

The native of Kelvin Grove, Prince Edward Island, has been very strategic when it comes to his education. He has chosen courses that, while difficult, support his hockey career and his plans for the future. He encourages the other players to do the same.

Webster works very hard on his studies and his dedication is paying off. His grades have improved each semester during three years of university courses. This semester, he earned an A in an upper level nutrition course at Acadia University.

On the ice, Webster recorded two assists and a +2 rating in ten games.

Safin, who turned 19 last month, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.

The native of Prague, Czech Republic, totaled eight goals and 14 points in ten games last month. Highlights included two goals and an assist in a 6-3 victory over the Halifax Mooseheads on February 9th and one goal and three assists in an 8-5 loss to the Shawinigan Cataractes on February 10th. Those games were part of a five-game goal-scoring streak.

A fourth-round selection of the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017 NHL Draft, Safin is the Sea Dogs' leading scorer with 24 goals and 53 points in 53 games.
