Wave United Take on Bavarian Team Tonight

(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team will play the Bavarian Soccer Club major team in a pre-season match tomorrow night at Bavarian Field, 700 W. Lexington Ave. in Glendale, WI. Kick-off time will be 7 PM. Admission to the game is just $5 for adults, with free admission for those under 18. All proceeds from the match will go toward the recently completed light project at Bavarian Field.
Tomorrow night's game will mark the first-ever meeting between Wave United and the Bavarians, one of Wisconsin's most storied soccer clubs and the two-time defending U.S. Amateur Cup champions.
The Bavarian roster itself is bolstered by many former Wave players including Scott Kreitmeir, Dan Stebbins, Steve and Jake Provan, Nick Igel, Craig Posselt, Adam Riesz, and Chris Jahr. Coach Tom Zaiss' squad should provide excellent competition for Wave United, which is 0-1-1 thus far during 2003 pre-season.
"We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to play a preseason game against a quality opponent such as the Bavarians," said Wave United Coach Art Kramer. "It will also mark the first time we've had a full squad together since the beginning of training camp so it will be interesting to see how we perform."
Players from both teams will be available for autographs and photo opportunities immediately following the game at the Bavarian complex.
Wave United opens its season by hosting the Minnesota Thunder on Friday, May 16, 7:05 PM at Uihlein Soccer Park. Wave United will also entertain the defending Major League Soccer (MLS) champion Los Angeles Galaxy in an exhibition match on Sunday, May 18, 4:05 PM at Uihlein. Regularly priced tickets for the two games are: $12 / $8 (adult general admission / youth general admission) for the May 16 Minnesota game and all other regular season A-League contests; and $18 / $12 for the May 18 Los Angeles game. A special Wave United Opening Weekend package is available for $25 / $16, with exclusive access to the post-game autograph session on May 18 limited to Opening Weekend package holders.
