Wave United signs rookie MF Nino Marcantonio

(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has signed rookie midfielder Nino Marcantonio. The 22-year old Marcantonio will be making his professional debut with Wave United during the 2004 season.

Marcantonio, who was the Wave's third round choice (28th overall) in the recent Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Amateur Draft, had an outstanding college career in which he recorded 25 goals and 36 assists (86 points) in four years combined between American University (1999-2000) and the University of Maryland (2002-03). The 5-9, 160 lb. Bethesda, MD native tallied three goals and ten assists (16 points) for the Terrapins last season.

"Nino is a skillful, attacking player who comes from one of the nation's premier collegiate programs," said Wave United Coach Art Kramer. "His ability to create will help us on the offensive end this season."

Wave United continues the 2004 regular season this weekend with games at Seattle (Friday, May 28, 9:05 PM CDT at Seahawks Stadium in Seattle, WA) and Portland (Saturday, May 29, 9:05 PM CDT at PGE Park in Portland, OR). Both games can be hear live on 540 AM, WRRD ("The Word") with air time for each broadcast approximately 20 minutes prior to kick-off.

Milwaukee's next home game is Friday, June 4, 7:05 PM when it hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at Uihlein Soccer Park. That will be another "Fireworks Friday" at Uihlein presented by Cousins Subs, Lazer 103, and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Fans can pick up a buy-one-get-one-free ticket voucher at all participating Cousins Subs locations. Friday, June 4 is also the rescheduled date for the VIP Tent Party prior to the game (5:30 – 7 PM).
