Milwaukee Wave United News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has signed goalkeeper Jim Larkin to a two-year contract. The 27-year old Larkin comes to Milwaukee on loan from the Cleveland Force of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) where he recently completed his fourth indoor season.
Larkin, a 6-3, 195 lb native of Scarborough, Ontario is entering his sixth A-League campaign. He began his A-League career in 1998 with Toronto Lynx, playing two seasons with the Lynx before moving on to the Montreal Impact. After two seasons in Montreal, Larkin spent last season with the Vancouver Whitecaps. He appeared in 10 regular season games for the Whitecaps, posting a 2-5-2 mark with a 1.69 GAA. Larkin also played every minute of Vancouver's six playoff games, allowing just three goals during that span. He helped lead the Whitecaps to the A-League's Western Conference Finals against Milwaukee where Vancouver lost by an aggregate score of 3-2 in the two game series.
Larkin is coming off a strong indoor campaign in which he compiled a 19-16 record for the Cleveland Force during the 2002-03 season. He played all but one game for the Force, posting career highs in virtually every category.
"With the trade of Dan Popik to Los Angeles, we felt it was important to acquire an established veteran goalkeeper," said Wave United Head Coach Art Kramer. "Jim has proven over the years that he is one of the premier goalkeepers in North America."

Wave United falls to Badgers 2-1 in Madison / continues preseason slate this Thursday (5/1) v. Marquette at Uihlein (6 PM)
Wave United suffered its first preseason loss on Saturday (4/26) when it dropped a 2-1 decision to the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Coach Art Kramer's team is now 0-1-1 for the preseason.
"I felt the game against the Badgers proved to me something I already knew: that Wisconsin college soccer is among the finest in the nation," said Kramer. "I felt we played well at times and got some valuable minutes for some of our signed players."
The Badgers opened the scoring in the 58th minute to take a 1-0 lead before Digital Takawira scored for Wave United in the 65th to tie it up. However, UW answered with another goal in the 70th minute to regain the lead and eventually claim the victory. Milwaukee goalkeeper Jeff Richey posted a clean sheet during the first half before giving way to Chris Cherry for the second 45 minutes.
Wave United continues its preseason schedule this upcoming Thursday, May 1 when it hosts Marquette University at Uihlein Soccer Park. Kick-off time is 6 PM.
