Milwaukee Wave United News Release

(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has signed former Rampage star Vitalis "Digital" Takawira to a three-year contract beginning with the upcoming 2003 season. The 30-year old forward, who has spent the past three seasons in Milwaukee, is the fourth ex-Rampage player to sign with Wave United following the earlier signings of Jeremy Aldrich, Dennis Fadeski, and Steve Bernal.

"I'm happy to sign with Wave United and stay in Milwaukee," said Takawira. "I've been very impressed with what I've seen of the organization so far and hope we can bring the Milwaukee fans another championship."

Originally from Zimbabwe, Takawira will be entering his eighth season of North American professional soccer. He began his U.S. career with the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS), scoring 75 points (28 goals, 19 assists) from 1996-99. He was also a two-time MLS all-star who popularized the "Digital Crawl," a goal-scoring celebration that involves himself and his teammates crawling along the sideline. After four years in Kansas City, Takawira came to Milwaukee, where he helped lead the Rampage to three straight A-League Final Four appearances and the 2002 A-League Championship. He led Milwaukee in scoring each of the past three seasons, and was named the A-League MVP in 2000 when he tied for the league scoring title with 42 points.

"Digital has proven to be one of the A-League's most prolific scorers during the past three seasons," said Wave United Vice-President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "His leadership qualities and experience make him a very valuable asset to have on our team. He's also a fan favorite who will be an integral part of our summer soccer camp program."

Said Wave United Coach Art Kramer, "I'm confident Digital will continue to play at the high level he has performed at over the past several years. I'm excited to have a player of his caliber represent Milwaukee Wave United."

Wave United opens the 2003 season when it hosts the Minnesota Thunder on Friday, May 16, 7:05 PM at Uihlein Soccer Park. Call the Wave / Wave United Office at 414-224-WAVE (9283) for tickets or information, or check out the Wave website at www.milwaukeewave.com.
