Milwaukee Wave United News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has signed midfielder Steve Bernal to a three-year contract beginning with the upcoming 2003 A-League season. The 24-year old Bernal joins former Milwaukee Rampage teammates Jeremy Aldrich and Dennis Fadeski as a member of Milwaukee's new A-League squad, which replaces the now defunct Rampage.
A native of Batavia, Illinois, Bernal enjoyed an outstanding collegiate career at Creighton University (Omaha, NE) before beginning his professional career with the Rampage in 2000. In three years with Milwaukee's former A-League club, Bernal appeared in 78 games (74 starts), registering six goals and eighteen assists. He was a key part of Milwaukee's success during that time, helping the Rampage to three straight A-League Final Four appearances as well as the 2002 A-League title.
"I've had nothing but a positive experience playing in Milwaukee and I'm excited to have the opportunity to play for Wave United," said Bernal. "I'm looking forward to continuing the success that I've been fortunate to be a part of."
"Steve has proven himself over the last several years as one of the best left-sided midfielders in the A-League," said Wave United Vice-President of Operations Keith Tozer. "The experience that he has gained while winning the A-League championship will be extremely beneficial for years to come.
Wave United begins its first A-League season on Friday, May 16, 7:05 PM at Uihlein Soccer Park when it hosts the Minnesota Thunder. Call the Wave / Wave United Office at 414-224-WAVE (9283) for more information, or check out the Wave United website at www.milwaukeewaveunited.com.
