Milwaukee, WI â The Milwaukee Wave United got off to a slow start in tonight's match-up against the Charlotte Eagles, but they came out firing in the second half as Todd Dusosky and Greg Howes each scored goals to propel the Wave to a 2-0 victory at Uihlein Soccer Park. Dusoksy registered the first goal in Wave United history when he saw Eagle goalkeeper Chris McClellan come out high and was able to chip the ball into the back of the net.
Both teams were looking for their first victory on the season, but the Wave United was hungry for their first win in their inaugural season and they were able to control the tempo for most of the second half to record the win. Greg Howes made the score 2-0 in the 54th minute in favor of the Wave United as he tapped the ball over the goal line past a laid out McClellan.
Wave United head coach Art Kramer has been experimenting with his line-ups and tonight went with a front line that included three players from the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) in Dino Delevski, Todd Dusosky and Matt Schmidt. Once the line found their rhythm they were able to get off nine shots in the second half to control the tempo and record the win.
Jim Larkin made eight saves in goal for Wave United as he recorded his first shutout this season. Charlotte forwards Andy McDermott and Jacob Coggins each had three shots to keep Larkin busy in goal. The Wave will be back in action against the Minnesota Thunder tomorrow, May 24th at National Sports Center at 7:05 pm for the second meeting of the two teams.
Wave United's next home will be Sunday, June 1, at 6:00 pm when it takes on the Syracuse Salty Dogs at Uihlein Soccer Park.
