Milwaukee Wave United News Release
Milwaukee, WI â The opening minutes of Milwaukee Wave United's home-opener were action packed but Wave United could not stop the powerful combination of Minnesota Thunder's defender Dom Gramenz and forward Marshall Morehead who connected for two goals to beat the Wave United 2-0. The game played at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee was broadcast live on Fox Sports World in front of a crowd of 3,016.
Having replaced the now defunct Milwaukee Rampage, Wave United begins their inaugural season 0-1 while Minnesota improves to 3-1. Wave United got a late start due to the new team and the ending of the Milwaukee Wave's indoor season and will play a compact schedule throughout the rest of the season.
The first half was dominated largely by Minnesota with seven shots on goal to Milwaukee's three. The Wave United came out strong, but was affected by the red card issued to Anthony Maher in the 25th minute, forcing the Wave United to play shorthanded for the rest of the match. Milwaukee was forced to adjust to a new defensive set and although the team was able to adjust, the Thunder proved to be too much to handle.
Wave United's next home will be Sunday, May 18, at 4:00 pm when it plays an exhibition match against the defending Major League Soccer (MLS) champion Los Angles Galaxy at Uihlein Soccer Park.
