Wave United Begins Training Camp

(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team held its first official pre-season training session today at Uihlein Soccer Park, 7101 W. Good Hope Rd. on Milwaukee's northwest side. Coach Art Kramer's team will conduct daily 4:30 PM practice sessions at Uihlein, the official training center and home venue for Wave United.

Six players under contract not currently playing for the Wave indoor squad headline the 33-man roster taking part in pre-season camp. The signed players, all of whom appeared for Wave United last season, include: forward Digital Takiwara; midfielder Nick Walls; goalkeeper Jeff Richey; and defenders Chad Dombrowski, Steve Lawrence, and Dennis Fadeski. Goalkeeper Jim Larkin, who recently completed another indoor season with the Cleveland Force is expected to join the squad within the next few days.

Other players currently under contract with the Wave organization that are expected to play for Wave United this season are: forwards Todd Dusosky, Johnny Torres, and Kevin Burk; midfielders Greg Howes, Matt Schmidt, Giuliano Oliviero, Semir Mesanovic, Marcelo Fontana, Angel Rivillo, and Matt Stewart; defenders Troy Dusosky, Chris Morman, Joe Hammes and Lovelace Ackah; and goalkeeper Nick Vorberg. All of the aforementioned players are currently with the Wave indoor squad preparing for the upcoming Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Championship Series (best-of-five) against the Baltimore Blast, with Games One and Two taking place this weekend at U.S. Cellular Arena (Friday, April 23, 7:35 PM and Saturday, April 24, 7:35 PM).

Highlighting Milwaukee's pre-season camp are five exhibition games beginning with this Wednesday's outing versus Northwestern University at Uihlein (4/21, 5 PM). Wave United will also take on UW-Parkside Saturday afternoon (4/24, Noon) in Kenosha before hosting UW-Madison Sunday afternoon (4/25, 2 PM) at Uihlein. Milwaukee will close out its pre-season slate with games against Marquette (Wednesday, 4/28, 5 PM at Uihlein) and UW-Milwaukee (Friday, 4/30, 2 PM at Uihlein).

"Over the course of the next few weeks, we'll be preparing our signed players not currently obligated to the indoor (Wave) team," said Kramer. "We'll also be looking to identify other players that can contribute to our current squad. We feel that the five pre-season games will help us achieve these objectives."
