Wave United adds Chris Morman, Pat White, and Marcelo Fontana
August 7, 2003 - A-League (A-League)
Milwaukee Wave United News Release
(Milwaukee, WI) Milwaukee Wave United, the Wave's A-League (outdoor) team announced today that it has added veteran defender Chris Morman, as well as midfielders Pat White and Marcelo Fontana to its roster for the remainder of the 2003 campaign.
The 25-year old Morman, who was acquired by the Wave indoor team in the recent trade involving goalkeeper Victor Nogueira, is a two year A-League veteran who previously played in Raleigh (2000) and Nashville (2001). Originally from Troy, MI, the 6-1, 185 lb. Morman played college ball at the University of South Carolina where he started all four years for the Gamecocks. Upon his graduation in the spring of 2000, Morman began his professional career with the Raleigh Capital Express, a team that folded after the 2000 campaign. Since that time, Morman has played with the Nashville Metros (2001 A-League season) and the now inactive Harrisburg Heat, with whom he spent the past three indoor seasons (2000-03).
"The addition of Chris brings experience to a relatively young back line," said Wave United Coach Art Kramer. "We are looking for him to contribute not only with his play but also in helping our younger players develop."
Like Greg Howes, Matt Schmidt, and the Wave's "Twin Tandem" â Todd and Troy Dusosky â Morman will play year round for both the Wave and Wave United. He was one of the A-League's top defenders in 2001 and was also a two-time MISL all-star with Harrisburg.
"We're very excited to have Chris join our outdoor club for the remainder of the 2003 season," said Milwaukee Vice-President of Soccer Operations Keith Tozer. "We also feel he'll be a key addition to our indoor team, especially since we lost two of our regular defenders (Martin Dugas and Sinisa Alebic) in the (MISL) expansion draft."
The 29 year-old White and 30-year old Fontana are veterans from the Wave indoor team. White has previously played in the A-League for the Milwaukee Rampage (1998-99), appearing in 30 games (1538 minutes) with three goals and four assists.
"It's great to have the ability to add two players like Pat and Marcelo as continue our playoff drive," said Tozer.
Wave United returns to action this Saturday, August 9, 4:05 PM (CDT) against Calgary at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. The game will air live on 540 AM, WRRD ("The Word"). Milwaukee's next home game is Wednesday, August 13, 7:35 PM when it hosts the Cincinnati Riverhawks.
