
Wave Remain Perfect

The Milwaukee Wave moved to a perfect 6-0 on the season with a home victory over Philadelphia on October 26 and a road win at Dallas on October 27. Milwaukee, hosting Philadelphia for the first time since the 2002 MISL Championship Series, downed the Kixx, 19-5, behind five points from Joe Reiniger. The Western Conference leaders then improved to 4-0 on the road with a 10-9 win at Dallas as Reiniger registered a pair of 2-point goals to propel the Wave to the club's 12th consecutive regular season victory, dating back to the 2001-02 campaign.
The Cleveland Force improved to 1-2 away from home and 3-2 overall on the season with a 15-4 victory at San Diego on October 25. John Ball posted eight points and Jim Larkin stopped 20 of 22 shots faced to earn the victory in goal.
The Harrisburg Heat also manufactured an impressive road victory by way of a 9-8 win at Baltimore on October 26. Heat newcomer Horacio Robledo connected on a 3-point sixth-attacker goal with 2:14 remaining to improve Harrisburg to 2-2 on the campaign while Baltimore fell to 2-4.
Philadelphia (4-2) rebounded from the setback in Milwaukee to post an 18-10 victory over Kansas City on October 26. Don D'Ambra, who was named the Kixx's interim head coach following Omid Namazi's departure on October 24, picked up the coaching victory while recording two points in the game.
Despite the loss at Philadelphia, Kansas City (1-4) managed to split a pair of road games last week with a 17-12 win at Baltimore on October 25. Paolo Ceccarelli earned the win while stopping 34 of 40 shots faced.
Milwaukee's pair of victories last week has moved the Wave a full four games ahead of both Dallas (2-4) and San Diego (2-4) in the Western Conference standings. Milwaukee is four and one-half games in front of fourth-place Kansas City. Philadelphia's lead in the Eastern Conference has shrunk to one-half game over second-place Cleveland while Harrisburg sits in third place and Baltimore resides in fourth. The Heat is one-game off the pace while Baltimore is two games behind the front-running Kixx.
NOGUEIRA ON THE VERGE OF ANOTHER MILESTONE...
Milwaukee goalkeeper Victor Nogueira is just 6:41 shy of becoming the first player in indoor soccer history to log 40,000 minutes of action. Nogueira, who is the only player in the sport's history to play in four different decades, has recorded 39,993:19 of action through October 27.
DELEVSKI AND NOGUEIRA EARN WEEKLY HONORS... Offensive: Kansas City forward Dino Delevski has been named the MISL Offensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending October 27. Delevski receives the award after posting a 3-point goal, three 2-point goals, two assists, and 11 points in two games last week.
Delevski registered the game-winning 3-point goal as well as a 2-point tally in Baltimore on October 25 to lead the Comets to a 17-12 win over the Blast. The native of Macedonia then added a pair of 2-point tallies in Kansas City's 18-10 loss at Philadelphia on October 26.
The 2001-02 MISL Most Valuable Player is tied for sixth in League scoring with 16 points while being tied for fifth in total goals with six.

Cleveland midfielder John Ball recorded three goals, an assist, and eight points in the Force's 15-4 victory at San Diego on October 25.
Milwaukee forward Joe Reiniger notched a 3-point goal, three 2-point tallies, and nine points during a pair of Milwaukee wins last week.
Kansas City midfielder Nate Houser registered five 2-point goals, an assist, and 11 points as the Comets went 1-1 in two road games last week.
Defensive:
Milwaukee goalkeeper Victor Nogueira has been named the MISL Defensive Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending October 27. Nogueira receives the award after going 2-0 with a 7.50 points against average and a .824 save percentage in two outings last week.
Nogueira stopped 16 of 18 shots faced in Milwaukee's 19-5 victory over Philadelphia on October 25 before making 12 saves in the Wave's 10-9 win at Dallas on October 27.
The 2001-02 MISL Goalkeeper of the Year leads the MISL in victories with six, minutes played with 372, saves with 84, and points against average at 7.88.

Nate Houser scored three goals and Nino DaSilva added a pair of scores as the Kansas City Comets defeated the Baltimore Blast, 17-12, at the 1st Mariner Arena on Friday, October 25. Dino Delevski opened the scoring with a 2-point goal at 2:49 of the first quarter before DaSilva made it a 4-0 score with a deuce at 5:32. The Blast responded as P.J. Wakefield scored back-to-back 2-pointers at 7:36 of the first and 2:08 of the second to tie the score at four. DaSilva then gave the Comets a 6-4 halftime lead with a 2-point goal at 8:26 of the second, but Paul Wright knotted the score at six with a deuce at 2:17 of the third. That's when Nate Houser took over. Houser posted consecutive 2-point goals at 6:19 and 12:37 of the third quarter to give Kansas City a 10-6 lead through 45 minutes of play. In the fourth, Danny Kelly made it a 2-point game with a deuce at the 15-second mark, but Delevski answered with a 3-point score at 3:46 and Jake Dancy followed with a deuce at 10:18. Following 2-pointers from Wright (12:18) and Denison Cabral (14:44), Houser concluded the scoring with a 2-pointer at 14:56 to give the Comets the five-point victory. Houser led all scorers with three 2-point goals, an assist, and seven points. Wakefield and Wright led Baltimore with a pair of 2-point goals and four points apiece. Paolo Ceccarelli made 34 saves to earn the win while Scott Hileman made 17 stops in taking the loss for Baltimore.

Joe Reiniger scored five points and Victor Nogueira allowed just two goals as the Milwaukee Wave defeated the Philadelphia Kixx, 19-5, at the Bradley Center on Friday, October 25. Milwaukee took the drama out of the contest early as Johnny Torres posted a 2-point goal at 3:23 and Greg Howes made it a 4-0 game by the first quarter break with a deuce at 8:22. In the second, the Wave broke the game open with a 10-0 run. Marcelo Fontana (2:17), Michael King (2:46), Todd Dusosky (4:53, 9:18), and Reiniger (12:00) each posted 2-point scores to make it a 14-0 game at the half. In the third, Reiniger tacked on a 3-pointer at 3:15 to make it 17-0 in favor of the home team. Cesidio Colasante finally broke through for Philadelphia with a 2-pointer at 4:10 and Glenn Carbonara followed with a 3-pointer at 9:22; however, it was too little, too late as Martin Dugas scored the final goal of the contest, a 2-pointer at 14:32 of the third, to produce the 19-5 final. Reiniger led all scorers with a 3-point goal, a 2-point score, and five points. Carbonara paced the Kixx with three points. Nogueira got the win with 16 saves while Peter Pappas took the loss while making 14 stops.

Jim Larkin made 20 saves and John Ball posted eight points as the Cleveland Force defeated the San Diego Sockers, 15-4, at the San Diego Sports Arena on Friday, October 25. Cleveland built a 6-0 first quarter lead as Zach Scott (3:18), Ball (6:00), and Myles Stoddard (9:15) each posted 2-point goals for the Force. In the second, Anthony Maher added a deuce at 1:24 to make it an 8-0 Cleveland advantage. Carlos Farias got the home team on the board with a 2-point goal at 7:15, but Hector Marinaro answered with a 2-pointer at 13:51 to give Cleveland a 10-2 halftime advantage. Following a scoreless third quarter, Matt Johnson notched a 2-pointer for San Diego at 3:13 of the fourth, but Ball posted a 2-point goal at 11:04 and followed with a 3-pointer at 11:26 to give the Force an 11-point road victory. Ball led all scorers with a 3-point goal, two 2-point scores, an assist, and eight points. Farias and Johnson each posted two points for the Sockers. Larkin earned the win in goal for Cleveland while D.J. Horvath (10 stops) took the loss.

Joel Shanker and Gary DePalma each recorded five points as the Philadelphia Kixx defeated the Kansas City Comets, 18-10, at the First Union Spectrum on Saturday, October 26. Nate Houser opened the scoring and put Kansas City on top, 2-0, with a 2-point goal at 1:53 of the first quarter; however, Philadelphia then went on a 10-0 run to take control of the game. Shanker (7:39), Don D'Ambra (11:31), and DePalma (12:20) each notched first quarter tallies to put the Kixx in front, 6-2. Joe Scigliano (1:48) and Shanker (12:14) added second quarter deuces to give Philadelphia a 10-2 halftime lead. In the third, Casey Barton (1:50) and Dino Delevski (2:49, 4:57) posted 2-point goals to bring the Comets within two at 10-8. Chris Handsor answered for the Kixx, however, with a 2-pointer at 6:49. DePalma followed with a 3-point goal at 10:56 to close the third quarter scoring with Philadelphia ahead, 15-8. Following Houser's second 2-pointer of the night at 6:53 of the fourth, Cesidio Colasante concluded the scoring with a 3-pointer at 14:18 which produced the 18-10 final score. Shanker and DePalma led the Kixx offense with five points apiece while Dino Delevski (two 2-point goals, two assists) paced Kansas City with six points. Stuart Dobson (16 saves) got the win in goal while Brian Bowes (13 stops) took the loss.

Horacio Robledo scored a 3-point sixth-attacker goal with 2:14 remaining as the Harrisburg Heat defeated the Baltimore Blast by the score of 9-8 at the 1st Mariner Arena on Saturday, October 26. Baltimore's Jason Dieter opened the scoring with a 2-point goal at 5:08 of the first quarter and Paul Wright followed with a deuce at 8:00 of the opening frame as the Blast took a 4-0 lead. Renato Pereira got Harrisburg on the board with a 2-point goal at 14:57 as Baltimore held a 4-2 lead through one quarter of play. In the second, Gino DiFlorio pushed the Blast advantage back to four with a 2-pointer at 5:58 in what would be the quarter's only goal as Baltimore led, 6-4, at the half. Pereira opened the third quarter scoring with his second deuce of the game at 2:16, but Lee Tschantret followed with a 2-pointer at 7:54 as Baltimore led, 8-4, after three quarters. Chris Morman then got the Heat within two with a 2-point strike at 10:57 of the fourth, which set-up Robledo for his 3-pointer at 12:46 as Harrisburg claimed the one-point victory. Pereira led the Heat with a pair of 2-point goals and four points. Lee Tschantret paced Baltimore with a 2-point goal, an assist, and three points. Martin Hernandez (no saves), who was on as the sixth attacker when Robledo scored the game-winning goal, got the victory in net for Harrisburg while Scott Hileman (21 saves) took the loss for Baltimore.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Lovelace Ackah gave the Wave a 2-0 lead with a 2-point goal at the 29-second mark of the second frame. Patrick Shamu answered for Dallas with a 2-pointer at 1:49 and Brad Flanagan followed with a 3-point goal at 11:49 to give the Sidekicks a 5-2 halftime lead. Michael King then opened the third quarter with a 2-pointer at 4:05 to make it a 5-4 game, but Shamu responded with a deuce at 8:52 to put Dallas back on top by three at 7-4. Marcelo Fontana made it a 7-6 game with a 2-pointer at 9:36 and Joe Reiniger gave the visitors the lead with a deuce at 11:58. Reiniger then bagged his second 2-pointer at 10:57 of the fourth to put the Wave ahead, 10-7. Antonio Sutton connected on a power-play goal at 11:11 to bring the Sidekicks within one at 10-9, but Dallas was unable to connect while playing with the sixth-attacker as Milwaukee recorded the road win. Reiniger led the Wave with four points while Shamu paced Dallas with a pair of 2-point goals and four points. Nogueira earned the win in goal while Sagu (16 stops) took the loss.
REINIGER GRABS SPALDING SCORING LEAD...
Milwaukee forward Joe Reiniger has taken over the top spot in the race for the Spalding Scoring Champion Award after posting nine points in two outings last week. Reiniger now has 22 points on the season and leads Baltimore midfielder Paul Wright (20 points) by two points, San Diego forward Carlos Farias (19) by three points, and teammate Greg Howes (18) by four points.

Baltimore Blast (2-4)
The Blast dropped a pair of home games last week with a 17-12 loss to Kansas City and a 9-8 setback vs. Harrisburg. Paul Wright posted seven points in the two outings and is now second in the MISL in scoring with 20 points. Wright is also tied for the League lead in assists with six and is tied for second in 2-point goals with seven. The midfielder ranks fourth in total goals with seven. Lee Tschantret is tied for 11th in scoring with 14 points and is tied for the MISL lead in assists with six. Rookie P.J. Wakefield and Gino DiFlorio are tied for 13th in League scoring with 13 points while Denison Cabral is tied for 17th with 12 points. Cabral is also tied for the MISL lead in restart goals with two. Jason Dieter paces the MISL in blocks with 17 while Sean Bowers ranks fourth with 13. Scott Hileman ranks second in minutes played with 362, third in saves with 77, and fifth in points against average at 10.09. Baltimore team defense is tied for third in the MISL, allowing 10.5 points per game. The Blast penalty kill is also third, killing seven of 11 power plays faced (63.6%). Baltimore travels to Philadelphia on November 2 before welcoming the Kixx to the 1st Mariner Arena on November 8. The Blast will then head to Harrisburg on November 9.

Cleveland Force (3-2)
The Force posted a 15-4 victory at San Diego on October 25 in the club's only contest of the week. Cleveland is now 2-0 under interim head coach Andy Schmetzer and has moved above .500 for the first time since starting the 2001-02 campaign at 2-1. Cleveland sits in second place, one-half game behind Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference standings. Hector Marinaro is tied for sixth in MISL scoring with 16 points and is tied for the League lead in game-winning goals with two. Jim Larkin continued his strong play by stopping 20 of 22 shots faced in San Diego. Larkin is now ranked second in the MISL in saves with 78 and is tied for second in wins with three. Larkin is also fourth in both points against average (9.73) and save percentage (.772). The Force defense is the second stingiest in the League, allowing 9.6 points per game. Cleveland travels to Milwaukee on November 3 before hosting the Kixx on November 9. The Force will then head to Philadelphia on November 16.

Dallas Sidekicks (2-4)
The Sidekicks fell, 10-9, to Milwaukee at Reunion Arena on October 27. Dallas has lost their last two games by a combined three points. Patrick Shamu posted four points in the game and is now tied for sixth in MISL scoring with 16 points. Tatu is tied for 11th in scoring with 14 points while Antonio Sutton is tied for 17th with 12 points. Brad Flanagan is ranked third in blocks with 14. Sagu ranks fourth in saves with 66, fifth in minutes with 283, and seventh in points against average at 11.22. Dallas' defense is tied for third best in the MISL, allowing 10.5 points per game. The Sidekicks will head to Harrisburg on November 2 before welcoming Kansas City on November 6 and San Diego on November 9.

Harrisburg Heat (2-2)
The Heat returned to action after a 14-day hiatus and recorded a 9-8 victory at Baltimore on October 26 as Horacio Robledo scored the game-winning sixth-attacker goal with 2:14 remaining. David Bascome was held scoreless in the game, but is tied for 17th in MISL scoring with 12 points. Bascome also ranks fifth in 2-point goals with six. Doug Petras enjoyed another strong outing in goal, stopping 13 of 17 shots faced. Petras now ranks second in save percentage at .797 and third in points against average at 8.73. Harrisburg's defense is tied for the third best in the MISL, allowing 10.5 points per game while the club's penalty kill is the League's best, having not allowed a goal yet this season. Harrisburg is also allowing the fewest shots per game at 26.8 per contest. The victory at Baltimore marked an end to Harrisburg's season-opening four-game road swing. The Heat will entertain Dallas on November 2, Philadelphia on November 3, and Baltimore on November 9.

Dino Delevski posted 11 points in the two outings and is now tied for sixth in League scoring with 16 points. Paolo Ceccarelli stopped 34 shots vs. Baltimore to even his record at 1-1 on the campaign. Ceccarelli leads the MISL in save percentage at .831. The Kansas City power play is the MISL's best at 71.4% while the team's offense has climbed to third on the League chart at 11.6 points per game. The Comets will continue their current seven-game road trip at San Diego on November 2, at Dallas on November 6, and at Milwaukee on November 8.

The Wave remained perfect on the season with two wins last week. Milwaukee beat Philadelphia, 19-5, on October 25 before traveling to Dallas and defeating the Sidekicks, 10-9, on October 27. Joe Reiniger posted nine points in the two outings to vault to the top of the Spalding Scoring chart. Reiniger now has 22 points on the year. He also leads the MISL in power play goals with five and total goals with nine while being tied for the League lead in 3-point goals with two. Greg Howes ranks fourth in scoring with 18 points and is tied for the MISL lead in game-winning goals with two. Howes is also tied for second in both total goals with eight and in 2-point goals with seven. Marcelo Fontana is tied for ninth in scoring with 15 points. Farias currently ranks third in MISL scoring with 19 points and is tied for the League lead in 3-point goals with two. Gaston Pernia is second in the MISL in blocks with 16. Nick Vorberg is second in the League in points against average at 7.95 while being tied for fourth in wins with two and ranking fifth in save percentage at .769. San Diego is leading the MISL in shots per game at 34 while allowing the second fewest in the League at 27.8 per contest.
