(Yakima, WA)- The Yakima Sun Kings have confirmed Sonics Legend Slick Watts and former Mariner Bob Wells as two the field of VIPs for the 2004 Sun King Summer Celebrity Classic.
Watts joined the Sonics as a free agent prior to the 1973-74 season. An instant success, Watts averaged 8.0 ppg as a rookie and went on to start most of the next three seasons. Former Seattle Mariner Bob Wells was originally signed at an amateur free agent in 1988 by the Philadelphia Phillies. A Yakima native, Wells made his first professional debut May 16, 1994. In June of that same year, Wells was selected off waivers by Seattle from Philadelphia. He played with the Mariners until 1998 when he was released. In January of 1999, Wells signed as a free agent with Minnesota Twins.
The Seattle Seahawks have also confirmed they will be sending two former players to participate in this year's event.
The event is set for June 21 at Mt. Adams Golf Course with a 12:30pm shotgun start. Dinner will provided by Olive Garden.
