Watley, Eldredge to appear at Long Island tournament

Hempstead, NY-June 21, 2005- Natasha Watley, 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, and Kaleo Eldredge will appear this weekend at a local softball tournament hosted by the Long Island Riptide. The appearance will be at Shell Creek Park in Island Park from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Watley joins the Juggernaut for the 2005 season. Her blazing speed and quick bat add a powerful weapon to the Juggernaut offense. Watley is well-known in the softball community for her presence on the 2004 Gold Medal winning Olympic Softball team, who, in Athens, Greece, captured their third consecutive gold medal. She also had a tremendous career at UCLA, where she was a four-time All-American. Announced on June 20, Watley will be joining the USA National Team for certain competitions in July. Also joining Watley at the appearance is Kaleo Eldredge, a member of the 2005 USA Elite Team. Eldredge joins the Juggernaut for her professional debut after a stellar career at the University of California, Berkeley. A four-time post season honoree, Eldredge led her team, as a freshman, to a National Championship title in 2002.

The Long Island Riptide is hosting the tournament at several fields this weekend. In Island Park, the Juggernaut athletes will be present signing autographs for the fans. Also, merchandise and other information will be available to the public.

The New York Juggernaut take on the Chinese National Team in Montville, New Jersey on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. They then return home to Hofstra University Softball Stadium to host the Chinese on Friday at 7:00 p.m., Saturday at 5:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. For more information or for tickets, please call 631-385-1634 or visit the Juggernaut online at www.nynjjuggernaut.com.
