Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

At Their Best

Several Waterloo Black Hawks equaled or bettered their previously-best single-game performances during Friday's 8-2 win over Fargo. Leading the way was J.T. Brown with five assists (just one shy of the franchise record set in 1984) and six points, both career marks. Derek Arnold enjoyed the fourth four-point game of his USHL career, with a goal and three assists. Tyler Barnes had his sixth two-goal game as a Black Hawk.

Seven Even

Seven of eight goals against Fargo Friday were scored during five-on-five play. It was just the twelfth time in 333 USHL games this season that one team has scored at least seven goals at even strength. Waterloo also accomplished the feat in Sioux Falls on December 16th during an 8-7 shootout win. The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and Omaha Lancers are the only other teams to do it more than once this season.

Democratic Double-Digits

The Waterloo Black Hawks are the only team in the USHL with eight different players who have notched ten or more points on the power play in 2009-2010. Tyler Barnes leads the team with ten power play goals and 14 assists. Derek Arnold and Patrick Divjak each have 21 points while playing with a special teams unit. The other Hawks in the category are Brock Montpetit, J.T. Brown, Zach Palmquist, Dan Sova, and Nick Sorkin.

Working Hard, Playing Harder, Everyday

Thirty-six different players have appeared in at least one Black Hawks game this season. Entering the last full month of the year, five different skaters have dressed for all 47 Waterloo games. No other club in the USHL has had so many players appear every night. J.T. Brown, Tyler Barnes, Derek Arnold, Patrick Divjak, and Dan Sova have skated in every game. Brock Montpetit had not missed a game before sitting out injured Saturday.
