Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Dandy Dozen
The Waterloo Black Hawks are the only USHL team to have twelve players with ten or more points. While the Hawks don't yet have a player with 20 points this season, Waterloo has at least four more players in double-digits than any other club. Ten forwards, plus defensemen Lee Moffie and Patrick Wey are among the dozen. Five members of the group are in their first season with Waterloo. Jordan Samuels-Thomas leads the Hawks in scoring with eight goals and eleven assists. He is tied for ninth in the USHL.
Stalled Streaks I
The Black Hawks' loss to Green Bay Saturday ended several team streaks. Waterloo entered the game on a six-game overall winning streak, which began on November 14th in Des Moines. The Hawks had won the previous eight consecutive home games to start the year, the franchise's longest home winning streak to begin a season. The loss also ended a 15-game, regular season home winning streak dating back to March 7th last season.
Stalled Streaks II
A number of individual streaks were halted last week. Jordan Samuels-Thomas had a point in seven consecutive games until Saturday. Eddie Olczyk had a streak of six straight games with an assist until Friday; his run is tied for the third-longest of its kind in the league this season. Derek Arnold also had a point in five straight games until Friday, while Dan Sova had assisted on a goal in each of the four games before Thursday.
Fink Returns
Michael Fink was in the line-up Saturday for the first time since Waterloo played in Chicago on November 12th. The second-year Black Hawk had been bothered by a wrist injury, which forced him to miss six games. Fink has two goals and three assists during 13 appearances. Fink played on a line with Keegan Meuer and Matt Johnson.
