Rockford Thunder News Release
The Rockford Thunder (12-16) tied the game in the top of the seventh, but just couldn't hold on to tie the series against Washington (21-11), and ends the year's games against the Glory 3-5. The 3-2 loss comes a day after Washington won by the same score on a go-ahead run in the fifth inning.
Audrey Rendon came into the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning for the Thunder, and drove Savannah Brown in from third with a one-out single to tie the game at 2. Washington's Amber Jackson, however, ended the game in the bottom half of the inning with a single to right field that drove in Courtney Bures off of second base.
Allison Kime (5-4) threw a complete game in the losing effort, only giving up nine hits and walking four. Desiree Serrano (8-5) won the game for the Glory, giving up two runs on seven Rockford hits.
Shanna Diller hit a solo home run for the Thunder in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game at 1, her third of the season. Erin Evans continued her torrent of hitting against the Glory, going 2-for-4. In addition to scoring in the seventh, Brown doubled, walked, and was hit by a Serrano pitch to reach base on all of her plate appearances.
Rockford returns home this week to host the Akron Racers at Players Park in Roscoe. Four games will be played, from Wednesday through Saturday. Wednesday and Friday's games will begin at 6:35 pm, and Sunday's will start at 5:35 pm. Thursday's game will feature several children's groups from throughout the area, and will begin at 1:05 pm.
Individual and discounted group tickets are still available through the Thunder box office starting at just $4. Call Aaron at (815) 965-7000 for information.
